The Death Of A Superman
By Eric Valentine | (254 Reads )
Danny Dark, once known as "The Voice of NBC" but more well known as the voice of Superman on SUPER FRIENDS in all of its incarnations, died Sunday, June 13, at the age of 65.
Dark, whose resume included long stints as announcer on NBC and spokesman for Budweiser, started his career as a radio announcer in Springfield, Mo., before moving to Los Angeles. Eventually, Dark landed the role of Superman on SUPER FRIENDS, a role he would keep for 12 years (1973-1985).
It is odd to note that June is traditionally a sad period for those to bear the S. Artist Curt Swan died June 16, 1997, and perhaps the second most well known Superman, George Reeves, was found dead of debated circumstances on that same date in 1959.
