X-Men: First Class

Fast det lutar ju inte mot en reboot, mer åt att de ska bygga ut det universum filmerna utspelar sig i. Egentligen vill man ju se Singer göra den här, X-Men 4 och Wolverine, men som han sa i intervjun, det går ju inte.

Confirmed: Bryan Singer Won't Direct 'X-Men: First Class,' Will Board As Producer Instead
Looks like that report earlier in the week was on the money. And especially that quote Bryan Singer gave to the LA Times that said, "I wish I could be four people. I could make everybody happy."
The "X-Men" director simply has too much on his plate and won't be able to direct "X-Men: First Class" — a sort of retelling of the original X-Men saga from a more teenage perspective (we've joked all along and called it, "X-Men Muppet Babies" surely, Fox wants to make "X-Men" with hot "Twilight" teens that kids go crazy for). Instead he's going to be on board in a producer capacity according to Deadline Hollywood.
As reported earlier in the week, Singer has obligations to Warner Bros.' "Jack The Giant Killer" which is already deep in pre-production and has location scouted so that's definitely next and will occupy his time for more than a year (and it may even shoot in 3D, naturally). The problem is 20th Century Fox loves the script that Jamie Moss wrote based on Singer's treatment and they want the film ready for 2011.
That will be an impossibility with Singer at the helm, so now he'll be joining Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg as part of the producers on the film. This also likely means that "Wolverine 2" — supposedly shooting in January of 2011 — is also not in the cards for the director of "X-Men" and the rather beloved "X2," still the high mark in the series thus far.
While fans will be bummed, this move bodes well for Singer's continued involvement in the "X-Men" franchise and with talk of a fourth "X-Men" film already gestating — likely no earlier than 2012 — comic movie zealots can at least look forward to hearing how those mutant discussions will evolve. Fox is evidently shortlisting directors as we speak, much like Hitfix already suggested.

X-Men: First Class Director, Release Date and Plot Revealed | WorstPreviews.com
Since "Kick-Ass" director Matthew Vaughn previously declined to helm 20th Century Fox's "X-Men: The Last Stand," it was assumed that he was also going to decline the chance to helm "X-Men: First Class." It turned out that he did, but as soon as Fox started having talks with other directors, Vaughn reconsidered and returned to negotiate a deal.
The studio is now happy to announced that Vaughn has been signed to direct "First Class" and that the new movie will hit theaters on June 13th, 2011 (less than thirteen months from now). In addition, Fox has also unveiled the official plot synopsis for the film.
Plot: "X-Men: First Class," following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men.

Nicholas Hoult Cast as Beast in X-Men: First Class
Nicholas Hoult has been cast as Dr. Henry Philip “Hank” McCoy (aka Beast) in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class.
It had been previously reported that Benjamin Walker (star of the Public Theater’s “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson”) had been cast in the role. Then last week we heard that the studio was worried about Walker’s age. You see, Walker is only a few years younger than James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender, who are supposed to be his elders in the film. Fox decided to find a younger actor to play Beast. Hoult is 20 years old (turning 21 later this year). McAvoy is 31, while Fassbender is 33.
Deadline is reporting that Hoult had a part in George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road, which has in fact been delayed, giving him the time to film X-Men. Nicholas has appeared in About a Boy, Wah-Wah, The Weather Man, A Single Man, Clash of the Titans, and the television show Skins.
The character was played by Kelsey Grammer in X-Men: The Last Stand. Here is more information on Beast from Wikipedia:
When first introduced, the Beast — a mutant — possesses ape-like superhuman physical strength and agility and oversized hands and feet, though he otherwise appears to be a normal human being. Throughout his history, the Beast undergoes progressive transformations to his physiognomy, permanently gaining increasingly animalistic physical characteristics. These include blue fur, feline facial features, pointed ears, fangs, and claws. His physical power increases to even greater levels, as do his senses.
Despite his savage appearance, he is a brilliant man of the arts and sciences; he is a world authority on biochemistry and genetics, the X-Men’s medical doctor, and the science and mathematics instructor at the Xavier Institute (the X-Men’s headquarters and school for young mutants). He is also a mutant political activist. Fighting his bestial instincts and fears of social rejection, the Beast dedicates his physical and mental gifts to the creation of a better world for man and mutant. He also has a witty sense of humor.
Henry’s mutation more fully manifests during adolescence, providing greater strength and agility, and although his powers allow him to briefly excel in athletics during his remaining time at school, he soon attracts the animosity of his fellow students and other non-mutant humans. As he seeks refuge, he is approached by Professor Charles Xavier, who invites him to study at “Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters”. Henry recognizes the opportunities such an institution can offer him and accepts the offer. He finds the school both a fount of scientific knowledge and a place of sanctuary and is there introduced to the X-Men, who accept him into their ranks and give him the codename Beast. Alongside workouts in the Danger Room, under Xavier’s tutelage, he studies subjects ranging from differential equations to Proust. With the rest of the X-Men on their first field mission, he battles Magneto for the first time.
Also, Variety has just confirmed a previous rumor that Caleb Landry Jones (Friday Night Lights, The Longshots, The Last Exorcism) is the top choice to play Sean Cassidy aka Banshee. Jones is now officially cast in the movie as Sean Cassidy aka Banshee.
Previously:
Casting:
* Michael Fassbender of Inglourious Basterds and Hunger is playing Magnet, a role he chose over a villain turn in Sony’s Spider-Man reboot.
* It has been rumored that Amber Heard (The Informers, Zombieland) is in talks to play a young Mystique, and Pride & Prejudice/Surrogates star Rosamund Pike is in talks to play Moira McTaggert.
* Benjamin Walker (star of the Public Theater’s “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson” has been cast as Dr. Henry Philip “Hank” McCoy (aka Beast).
* Alice Eve, the lead actress from She’s Out of My League, was in talks with Fox to play Emma Frost.
* Spider-Man shortlist actor Frank Dillane may also be up for a role.
* It has also been reported that surfer Erica Hosseini auditioned for the role of Willow.
* It is being rumored that Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson might be in line for the role oc Cyclops.
Matthew Vaughn beat out eight directors to take the helm. Bryan Singer was originally attached to return to the X-Men franchise to helm this new film, but his commitment to Jack The Giant Killer at Warner Bros will prevent him from directing. Singer’s treatment was a Str Trek-style reboot/prequel, which will focus on “the formative years of Xavier and Magneto, and the formation of the school and where there [sic] relationship took a wrong turn.” Singer has previously admitted that First Class would “probably utilize some of the [planned/announced X-Men Origins:] Magneto story because it deals with a young Magneto,” and that “it might supersede” that plan because this new movie would explore “that relationship between a young energetic professor and a disenfranchised victim of the Holocaust.”
“It’s basically about the formation of the X-Men. How they began and the relationship between a young Xavier and a young Magneto.”
Here is the official plot synopsis:
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.
The day after Jamie Moss handed in his first draft, Fox head Tom Rothman fast-tracked the project. It was at this moment that Warner Bros informed Singer that they would not delay the production of Jack and the Giant Killer. Singer will still produce the project. I’ve heard the script is solid, and everyone who has read it is excited to make it. Fox is scouting locations in West Michigan. The film is set to go into production this Summer, and the studio has set a June 3rd 2011 release date.

Jennifer Lawrence Cast As Mystique, Kevin Bacon Officially Joins 'X-Men: First Class' As Villain
Following the news that Nicholas Hoult ("A Single Man," "Clash Of The Titans," the upcoming "Mad Max 4") had stepped into the role of Beast and Caleb Landry Jones (NBC's "Friday Night Lights"), had been officially cast as the Irish sonic-screaming mutant Banshee, two more names are confirmed to be joining Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class."
Jennifer Lawrence has been cast and will take on the role of Mystique. It looks like Lawrence is cashing in the notices she got for her incredible turn in "Winter's Bone" and we think she's a great choice for the role. She has both the looks and skills for the job, and we're pretty thrilled. Kevin Bacon has also joined the film as the as-yet-to-be revealed villain. We'll leave the speculation to what that villain may be to everyone else, but Bacon's name first cropped up late last week and we think it's a pretty interesting choice to join the film. We'll see how appropriate (or not) he is once his character is revealed.
Lawrence and Bacon joins the previously announced James McAvoy (Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto) and Alice Eve (Emma Frost). Bacon aside, this is a great cast of on-the-rise actors and we hope the material is up to their formidable skills. Oh yeah, so what is the deal with Aaron Johnson? THR still has him listed as one of the young thesps in the film, but EW said last week he was out. Reporting reflex or is Johnson back in play?
According to EW shooting on "X-Men: First Class" has moved the previously scheduled August start, to a fall date in London.

Jason Flemyng Cast as Nightcrawler's Father Azazel in X-Men: First Class | /Film
och
Oliver Platt Joins X-Men: First Class | /Film
Briefly: This week, expect a casting update for X-Men: First Class every day. It'll be like a mutant advent calendar, where we open little doors that reveal who's cast in small to medium sized roles, hopefully leading up to the reveal of an actor for Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, the last of the film's leads.
For now we've got news, via Deadline, about Oliver Platt joining the cast as a non-mutant character called The Man in Black. Not a lot of info on the character at this point — I don't even see info in the Marvel Wiki about the guy, so if this is a small character from recent X-Men lore, please offer up info in the comments. But I'll take Platt in just about any role.Until then, marvel at the cast Matthew Vaughn has assembled for the film:
James McAvoy as Professor Xavier,
Michael Fassbender as Magneto,
Alice Eve as Emma Frost,
Nicholas Hoult as Beast,
Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique,
Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee,
Lucas Till as Havoc,
Edi Gathegi as Darwin,
Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert,
Jason Flemyng as Azazel
and Kevin Bacon as the mysterious villain.
