Läste någonstans att Hannibal skulle få en ny chans med en till säsong. Anledning? Inte för att den är bra , men för att den tydligen lockat en yngre målgrupp som ser den t ex via playtjänster.

Starz has officially given an sixteen episode first season order for "Battlestar Galactica" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" producer Ronald D. Moore's new "Outlander" series.

Based on Diana Gabaldon's best-selling series of books, the story follows a married WW2 nurse who mysteriously falls back in time to 1743. Seven books have been released in the series so far and have sold more than twenty million copies.

The order follows several months after Syfy picked up Moore's new outbreak drama "Helix" to series.

Starz has officially announced that Scotsman Sam Heughan has been cast as Scotsman Jamie Fraser, the “chivalrous young Scottish warrior” in their upcoming TV series from “Battlestar Galactica” showrunner Ron Moore’s “Outlander”. The show is an adaptation of the Diana Gabaldon bestselling books that have sold, we’re told, over 20 million copies worldwide.
 
Author Gabaldon apparently approves, saying of the casting:
 
"Oh. My. God. That man is a Scot to the bone and Jamie Fraser to the heart. Having seen Sam Heughan not just act, but be Jamie, I feel immensely grateful to the production team for their painstaking attention to the soul of the story and characters."
 
Here’s how the press release describes Fraser:

In “Outlander,” Jamie Fraser strikes up a passionate affair with Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743. Armed with sheer grit and enduring strength, he is a strapping young Scottish clan lord with a complicated past and a disarming sense of humor. He is intelligent, principled, and, by 18th century standards, educated and worldly, with a tenderness and compassion that stands out in contrast to his contemporaries. A natural leader of men, he has no political ambitions or desire for battlefield glories. Instead, he wishes to remove the price on his head and return to his family’s ancestral farm.

Lite info om Ron D. Moore's kommande serie "Helix".

 

Billy Campbell is set to portray the lead role of Dr. Alan Farragut in Ron Moore's upcoming dark thriller series "Helix" at Syfy. Shooting takes place in Montreal on July 29th.

 

The story follows a team of scientists investigating a possible disease outbreak. Farragut is just getting over a failed marriage and the affair his wife had with his brother, who now needs his help after becoming infected with a deadly disease.

 

Due to debut in January, "Helix" is executive produced by Battlestar Galactica developer/executive producer Ronald D. Moore, showrunner Steven Maeda and Lynda Obst. Writer Cameron Porsandeh is co-exec producing the series.

En liten nyhet kring den kommande tv-serien "Black Sails" som det har skrivits om i den här tråden tidigare. Intressant utveckling måste jag säga, samma sak hände ju praktiskt taget med deras serie "Spartacus" med.

 

Starz has announced that they've given an early season two pick up to the Michael Bay produced piracy drama "Black Sails." The second season order comes a full six months before the first season of the show even goes to air.

 

Premiering January 2014, the story is essentially a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's classic "Treasure Island." The story centers on Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) who takes on a fast-talking young addition to his crew, a young man named John Silver (Luke Arnold). Threatened with extinction on all sides, they fight for the survival of New Providence Island, the most notorious criminal haven of its day.

Tobias Menzies (Game Of Thrones) has landed a dual co-starring role in Starz‘s upcoming Outlander, a Ron Moore series based on Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling books.

Menzies will play Claire’s 20th century husband Frank Randall, a professional historian with a deep interest in the 18th century and his own genealogy. He also will play Jonathan “Black Jack” Randall, Frank’s ancestor from the 18th century, a Captain in the English Army posted into Scotland during a time when rebellion was rife.
