Helena Bonham Carter, who just joined the cast of McG's upcoming Terminator Salvation, confirmed to SCI FI Wire that she plays a villainous character in the SF prequel.

"I kind of play a baddie, definitely a baddie," Bonham Carter said in an interview while promoting her new film, the comedy-drama Sixty Six. "I don't know how much I'm allowed to say, but I'm a very bad person."

Bonham Carter is a new addition to the cast of the film, which already includes Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Bonham Carter (Sweeney Todd) replaced Tilda Swinton at the 11th hour and will work a total of about 10 days on the film, which is currently in production in New Mexico.

"Tim [Burton] would have killed me if I hadn't done it, because he's such a Terminator fan," Bonham Carter said, referring to her longtime partner and director on such films as Planet of the Apes. "I've been in big movies before, like Apes, and Fight Club was big in a different way, and Charlie [and the Chocolate Factory] and Sweeney Todd were big, but I've never been in this kind of big popcorn action movie, a male one, an action one." WorstPreviews - Linda Hamilton Returning for Terminator Salvation?

Pause website has word from a studio source that Linda Hamilton has just signed on for a three-picture deal to reprise her role as Sarah Connor. Since the movie will take place in the future, Hamilton's role will be in flashbacks.

Hamilton's representatives are denying everything: "I can tell you that Linda is a big fan of T1 and T2 and would be very interested in hearing about participating in the new film."

Only time will tell if her reps are trying to keep things a secret or if the studio source exaggerated a rumor. I personally would love to see Hamilton return for a small role.

James Cameron Says He Never Blessed Terminator Salvation. McG Says He Did. | /Film

For months, the foggy perception online has been that James Cameron gave McG’s Terminator Salvation his “blessing.” Where did the Internet come up with this rumor? Well, McG has stated the endorsement as fact in numerous interviews, including in this E! Comic Con video. Earlier this month, Cameron set the record straight, and what’s more, the question over a “blessing” was never raised. He personally brought it up.

“It could be a big steaming pile or it could be brilliant. Sam Worthington is in the Avatar and the new Terminator and he likes the script, but I never saw it. There was no blessing involved.”

Of course, there’s the chance that McG heard through the grapevine that Cameron sprinkled holy water on the first film in his trilogy, but doesn’t a blessing imply that some form of personal communication took place, even if it’s a wink over In-N-Out? At this summer’s Comic Con, McG also stated that his film was given the—uh, oh—”blessing” of WB execs in regards to the rating…

“I’ve been given their blessing to make the picture…and if it’s a rated R picture, then that’s that.”

The chances of this film being anything other than PG-13 are slim. No more McBlessings, thanks.

McG has posted a new blog on the Terminator Salvation website. Here are the major take-aways:

* Principal Photography has wrapped

* Christian Bale and Sam Worthington have been sown early cuts and “they seem pleased with where the film is headed.”

* “Our focus is on story and character, but it’s fun diving into the world of visual effects.”

* “We want the patina of the machines to be dirty and heavy and perfectly realistic - that’s why we built so much practically with Stan Winston.”

* On producing revolutionary effects like Terminator 2: “There’s one sequence in particular where we’re trying to achieve something that’s never been done before. I don’t want to talk about it because we haven’t been successful yet.”

* Terminator 2 editor Conrad Buff is cutting the film: “It feels great to have his confidence in the movie. I take his opinion very seriously, he provides a daily litmus test for what is worthy of a Terminator film.”

* About the story: “This is a story of two destinies colliding. Connor is part of a resistance comprised of the ethnicities that make up the globe. This film is so much more that just Los Angeles. It reflects the global crisis of man, all of man versus machine.”

McG Offers Hints

Arnold Schwarzenegger may well have shot a cameo for McG’s Terminator Salvation film according to Total FIlm.

“We’re trying to synthesize a human character with a CGI character and that may or may not have something to do with the T800,” McG told the site. “At the moment it’s not good enough,” he said. “And we’re running out of time.”

The synthesis being attempted by Industrial Light & Magic have not been deemed successful.

Meantime, Moviehole says that McG took advantage of the film’s ending being leaked to alter so there will be surprises. “That is not the ending. John Connor is not the machine. We did discuss that idea, but that is not the ending, I can say that right now.”

Ser väl rätt okej ut. Fast det tyckte jag bitar från trailern till T3 också gjorde när den kom men den filmen var ju inte speciellt bra direkt. Återstår att se hur den här blir.

Ser ok ut, men ser inte ut som något så fantastiskt att jag vill rusa in i biograferna på premiären. Den ser mycket mindre korkat ut än vad man är van vid från McG. Och så brukar ju inte Christian Bale göra mig besviken. Men men, är inte överdrivet hypad över det här. Hoppas de faktiskt skiter i PG-13 grejen och gör en brutal "framtidskrigscyborgaction"-film av det här. Att man vill göra en trilogi av det här tyder ju på att filmbolaget verkligen tror på det här. Och att Hollywood verkar gilla trilogier.

Jag är tudelad. Det smäller på bra och ser framförallt bra ut, men voice-overn känns sådär och varför pratar Bale så konstigt? Trailern känns ärligt talat mer som Mel Gibson än James Cameron.

Och PG-13 rating, det går bara inte det är ju för sjutton post-apokalyps deluxe, då kan man inte snåla med jävelskaper.

Men jag älskar Terminator-franchisen och som sagt det ser jävligt bra ut, hoppas bara att storyn håller.

Trailern ser ok ut i nuläget, inte mer. Hoppas inte på en PG13 gräns på denna film.
