The advance ticket sales of The Dark Knight continues to point to a huge opening weekend at the box office. The Christopher Nolan comic book sequel is currently outselling three of the Top-10 Performing Films of All-Time at the same point in the sales cycle. According to MovieTickets.com, The Dark Knight has sold out over 150 performances in Los Angeles and New York alone. That’s more than three times as many advance tickets as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, more than twice as many as Spider-Man 3 and almost twice as many as Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers at the same point in the sales cycle for each film. According to Steve Mason, the only two films to do this kind of advance online business were Star Wars: Epsiode III – Revenge of the Sith, and Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire.

Christopher Nolan, without a doubt, displays the biggest, hairiest, sweaty swinging pair of brass cojones of the summer with the sixth and final superhero movie of the season. And after a number of interesting entries, The Dark Knight doesn’t suffer from one ounce of superhero fatigue. In fact, it proves that Warners wisely chose to save the best for last. This is in a class by itself. I love The Incredible Hulk. I love the living shit out of Iron Man. And as you all know, Hellboy 2 made me squeal with childish glee. But this? This is the first Oscar quality superhero movie. This is the one we will look back upon 20 years from now and hold it to be superior to most everything that came after it. I want to say that this is like Wrath of Khan or Superman 2, but really this is better than that. This is The Empire Strikes Back of superhero films.

Hur många har skaffat biljetter? Själv ska jag se filmen den 27/7:e, klockan 17:45.

Har faktiskt inte gjort det. Tänkte göra det så snart dom släpptes men det är så rörigt på jobbet just nu att man aldrig vet när man får ryka in och jobba extra, Köper biljetten samma dag som jag ska se filmen istället för att vara på säkra sidan. Orkar inte hålla på med att återköpa biljetter om man skulle få förhinder.

Hoppas ni gillar filmen och att premiären bli underbar för er som ska gå då.

The Dark Knight Sets New Midnight Record!

The Dark Knight grossed the most ever for midnight shows, earning a massive $18.5 million from 3,040 theaters. The number did not include the 3:00 a.m. and 6 a.m. showings.

The Batman Begins follow-up broke the previous midnight record set by 20th Century Fox's Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith which grossed $16.9 million from 3,663 theaters. "Sith" went on to make $50 million in its first day, which was a Thursday. The highest single day opening record is currently held by Sony's Spider-Man 3, which made $59.8 million.

This morning, The Dark Knight expanded into a record 4,366 theaters.

Dark Knight Sets New Opening Day Record!

Box Office Mojo is reporting that Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight has set a new opening day record with $66.4 million in a record 4,366 theaters (including 94 IMAX theaters) nationwide.

With brisk advance sales and early sell-outs reported all week from Fandango, it looks like the latest installment in Warner Bros' Batman franchise has delivered an opening day gross bigger than the previous five movies were able to make in their opening weekends alone. Even though Dark Knight opened with roughly $7 million more than Spider-Man 3 grossed in its opening day last year, to claim the opening weekend record (currently $151.1 million) for The Dark Knight might be somewhat premature, since Spider-Man 3 opened in May with school in session, while theoretically, The Dark Knight could be more frontloaded with so much more interest and demand in seeing it opening day. Then again, word-of-mouth has generally been as positive as the reviews with 93% of Superhero Hype readers rating the movie with a 9 out of 10 or above and many have expressed a desire to see the movie a second or third time, even opening weekend. Warner Bros. Pictures' The Dark Knight has earned $155.34 million to top Spider-Man 3 for best opening weekend at the box office. The weekend estimates show Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins follow-up more than $4 million ahead of the $151.1 million first weekend for Spider-Man 3 in May of 2007. The Dark Knight has also broken Spider-Man 3's record ($4.7 million) for best debut in IMAX theaters with $6.2 million in 94 locations.

Budgeted at $180 million, the film opened in a record 4,366 theaters nationwide and broke the new single and opening day records on Friday with $67.85 million. Spider-Man 3 previously held those records with $59.8 million.

Internationally, The Dark Knight added $40 million in 20 countries where it began opening Wednesday.

The Dark Knight stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman.

BATMAN star Christian Bale has been arrested by detectives investigating a claim of assault, police sources said today.

Bale, 34, faces questioning over the claim — made by his own mother and sister.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: “A 34-year-old man attended a central London police station this morning by appointment.

“He was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault. He currently remains in custody.”

Bale was arrested just hours after he attended the first European screening of the new Batman blockbuster, The Dark Knight.

But he was able to attend the first European screening of new Batman blockbuster The Dark Knight in London’s West End.

He is alleged to have lashed out on Sunday night at Park Lane’s Dorchester Hotel — where he has a suite.

Mum Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, who lives in Dorset, went to a police station in Hampshire yesterday to lodge the allegation. The matter was referred to the Met Police.

Detectives, well aware of last night’s glittering bash, took the decision not to approach Bale yesterday. But they were expected to make attempts to quiz the Wales-born actor today.

A source said: “It was a very difficult situation but it would have been wrong to have wrecked the premiere over a complaint which we don’t yet know is founded in truth.

“But Mr Bale will be contacted at the earliest opportunity and be asked to provide an account of anything that happened.”

A Met Police spokesman said: “We can confirm we have received allegation from another force in relation to an alleged incident in central London.”

The allegation is the latest drama to surround the film. In January Heath Ledger, who plays arch-villain The Joker, died from an accidental drugs overdose aged just 28.

And a special-effects technician was killed last September in a stunt car accident.
