Caprica: See The Roots Of Battlestar This Fall
Good news! While you're rocking back and forth with Battlestar Galactica withdrawal until 2009, at least you'll get to see some Cylon action. The BSG prequel TV movie Caprica will air this fall, according to TV Guide. No date yet, and no official word that it's been picked up as an ongoing series. [Battlestar Blog]

Med vadå?
Med bilder och lite annat mums mums.
Battlestar Galactica: Here are the first two photos from the BSG prequel Caprica, which turns out to have a 1950s look and feel to it. Look at the outfits lawyer Joseph Adama and ubergeek Daniel Graystone are wearing. And then check out the diner, serving real Caprican and Gemenese food. Just like mama used to make. Also, there are some pics of the Athena Academy, where the Adama and Graystone daughters go to school. [Galactica Sitrep and The 13th Colony] (Källa)

Caprica: A few new details about the Battlestar Galactica prequel. Zoe Graystone doesn't just upload her consciousness into cyberspace (allowing her dad to recreate her as a robot) she also spends a lot of time playing around in a holographic world with her friends Ben and Lacy. But they're not just having fun, they're seeking enlightenment and a "higher calling." Also, it's Tamara Adams' birthday when she and Zoe are both killed by Ben's suicide bombing.
Zoe's father Daniel is at the end of his rope, trying to finish a government project to create a robot warrior. He can't get his robotic soldier to think for itself. Meanwhile, Joseph Adams is trying to be a respectable lawyer but his Tauron roots keep getting in his way, especially since his brother Sam Adams is working for some bad people. And of course Daniel Graystone and Joseph Adams are brought together by their daughters' deaths... at least at first. [Collider] (Källa)

EDIT: Glöm det, jag ser att du har ändrat nu.
Oerhört härlig "feeling" som bilderna har. Klassisk Sci-Fi IMO som man växte upp med.
Gillat mottot i "mottosign" (bild 3) Cast aside the temporal. Reach for the eternal
Även intressant "synopsis" man fick ta del av där i andra citatet

Caprica As Deep As Battlestar
Ronald D. Moore, co-creator of SCI FI Channel's upcoming backdoor pilot film Caprica, told SCI FI Wire that the Battlestar Galactica prequel will foreshadow events in that series while dealing with some of the same weighty issues.
"It's something that Adama [Edward James Olmos] said in the [Battlestar] miniseries, you know: 'You don't play god and then get to walk away from what you created,'" Moore said in an interview at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills, Calif., on July 20. "And that's really the story of Caprica. We're going to watch them create this [Cylon race], and then wrestle with the ramifications of it. They're not even going to realize what they've created at first."
Caprica, a two-hour TV movie, will be set on the title planet, one of the 12 Colonies, 51 years before the events in Battlestar. It will center on two prominent families: the Adamas, led by Joseph (Esai Morales), and the Graystones, led by Daniel (Eric Stoltz).
Though the show will be relatively planet-bound and take place in an urban reality not unlike our own, Moore said the SF-tinged story will nevertheless enable him to tackle serious issues in the same way as Battlestar.
"Well, we're still going to be dealing with things that are similar, in that there are still going to be issues of terrorism and security and how society should protect itself or not protect itself," Moore said. "You know, what is the line between civil liberties and protection of the homeland? We're still going to be dealing with a lot of those things, because they're going to be spiraling out of certain events that happen in the pilot. And, you know, but you're also dealing with ethical responsibilities. You're also dealing with things like, you know, what is a person? What does it mean to be a sentient being? Does that being have rights? What are you allowed to do to something that you've created out in a laboratory? ... Does it have a soul?"
Caprica also stars Paula Malcolmson and Polly Walker. A decision on when and how the TV movie will air is due later this year.

Vill...Se...Nu!!!
Beskrivningen av serien låter ju även riktigt bra. Fastnade för detta:
"It's something that Adama [Edward James Olmos] said in the [Battlestar] miniseries, you know: "You don't play god and then get to walk away from what you created,"" "And that's really the story of Caprica. We're going to watch them create this [Cylon race], and then wrestle with the ramifications of it. They're not even going to realize what they've created at first."

Ain't It Cool - SciFi May Just Take Battlestar Galactica Prequel Caprica Straight To Series!!
From the Hollywood Reporter:“We’re not sure if [“Caprica” is] going to air as a backdoor pilot,” says Sci Fi Channel's executive vp of programming Mark Stern at the Television Critics Association press tour. “We’re going to take a look at it and maybe just order it as a series from there. We are going to take delivery on it in a couple of weeks and then decide whether to air it as a standalone movie or as the premiere of a new series.”

Dessa kommentarer gillar jag.
Were you a fan of Battlestar Galactica? Did you watch the series before to prepare for Caprica?
I'd seen some of it, and thought it quite good. But watching a series that's meant to take place after our story didn't make much sense to me, especially when we had the creators available to us to answer any questions, and point us in the right direction.
How would you describe Caprica to our readers (since they are very anxious to see it)?
It's a show that takes place in the not-so-distant future, on a not-so-distant planet, that deals with a family struggling to stay together, class warfare, religion, and our never ending search for meaning in a world that over-values stimulation, consumerism, and facts .

In the first few episodes of the Battlestar Galactica prequel (which is only greenlit as a TV movie so far), we never go into space at all. Caprica is about the machinations and subterfuge that go on inside big business, when they're developing something really important — in this case, artificial intelligence, says producer Michael Angeli.
And here's how Ron Moore describes Caprica: "It's about a vibrant society. It's really at the height of its power and the height of its decadence at the same time... So it's really a thriving, vibrant culture that's going to come apart as we watch, but it's sort of the roller coaster. It's thrilling at the top when you see how far down you've got to go." So it sounds as though Caprica was already coming apart at the seams long before the Cylons destroyed it. (Källa)

Galactica Station
Thursday, September 4
Finally, in other outer space news, there’s been no decision yet on a pickup for “Caprica,” the prequel series set 51 years before the events of “Battlestar Galactica.”
The 2-hour “Caprica” film, written by “Battlestar” executive producer Ron Moore and “24’s” Remi Aubuchon, wrapped weeks ago and Sci Fi executives are contemplating now whether to make it a full series that would debut in 2009. A few weeks back, Sci Fi execs felt so good about the show that they ordered additional scripts, but there’s been no news since then. (A side note: "Battlestar" writer Mark Verheiden, who wrote one of those "Caprica" scripts, has begun work as a writer on NBC's "Heroes," where he'll be helping out with the second arc of Season 3).
Regarding a "Caprica" pickup, “no word yet, but all signs look good at this point,” Moore said Tuesday. He added that a decision on the fate of "Caprica," which he discussed more here, should be made in “the next few weeks.”
Finally, this piece examines the growing popularity of a certain made-up expletive popularized by “Battlestar Galactica.”
