Okända karaktärer i huvudrollerna kan nog vara en bra grej. Men jag vill ha gästspel av de kända.

Men, jaja... Är det Williams-musik och rulltext i början av varje avsnitt så kommer jag i alla fall inte bli besviken.

Vore ju underligt om kraften inte fick nå'n funktion i serien. De kan ju alltid hitta nå'n nå'nstans som håller på med så'nt, även om det inte är en legitimerad jedi (eller sith).

För övrigt, känns det inte osannolikt att det blir fler tv-serier än en (som det till exempel har blivit med andra fenomen som också har åtta bokstäver och första halvan gemensam med det diskuterade) och att Mark Hamill visst får spela Luke Skywalker om fyra år och lära Solo-tvillingarna att... Ja, vad det nu är han lär dem...

Det där representerar precis vad jag hoppas INTE händer.
Ska det vara en Star Wars tv-serie så ska den vara något nytt och annorlunda. Den ska vara rå, tuff och allmänt "äkta"... Och inte lika "cheesy sci-fi" som vissa av filmerna anses vara. (Missförstå mig rätt, jag älskar alla filmerna )

Den ska vara lite som "Rome", "Deadwood" och "Battlestar Galactica". Ha den intensiva, hårda, äkta känslan som de serierna genomsyras av. Inte typ "tjoho, nu gör vi mini-versioner av Star Wars filmerna!". Men jag har stor tilltro till att Lucas kommer lyckas anpassa serien så att jag uppskattar den ngt otroligt.

Till sist, min tanke om hur en möjlig "inledningsscen" skulle kunna vara:
Börjar med att en Jedi/God person/Hjälte gör något heroiskt och räddar dagen på klassiskt Star Wars manér (kanske står med ett barn i famnen och tittar symboliskt mot himlen?). För att sedan direkt bli nedskjuten brutalt eller något liknande.
För att visa att de (serieskaparna) menar allvar och rör sig ifrån den klassiska bilden av Star Wars. "No Bullshit" så att säga.

Rick, what's the status with the new Star Wars live action series?

We met with hundreds of writers (over the summer of 2007). I love meeting writers especially when they've been locked up on writing something for a long time. (We have) a combination of both (new and established) writers, not anybody who's been in the business for like thirty years., but people who've had stuff made and we'll have a junior set of writers too.

What do you look for (in a writer) for the Star Wars tv series?

What we do is we see close to three hundred writers - some are busy. Once a month we go to Los Angeles, and two or three times a year to London and Sydney. You find out if you can connect. Some people have done really successful shows. It's about who's talented, who's got the strength to challenge George and also, much more importantly, what's the dynamics of the five or six people. If they can let go of their ego and work toward a specific goal. Sometimes you think -I'm sick of writing alone. Everyone has their ebb and flow. We're trying to get everyone in their peak.

Star Wars som tv-serie
Lucas planerar 13 avsnitt.

Luke Skywalker, Han Solo och de andra Star Wars-hjältarna kan inom en snar framtid att bli tv-figurer.

Enligt rykten i Hollywood ska George Lucas träffa manusförfattare redan nästa vecka.

När Star Wars-filmerna dök upp på biograferna i skiftet mellan 70-tal och 80-tal, blev de genast dundrande succéer. En hel generation ungar förvandlade sina ficklampor till surrande lasersvärd och gjorde halvlyckade försök att prata som Darth Vader och Yoda.

Ungefär 20 år efter att den första filmen släppts så kom den efterlängtade fortsättningen som på svenska fick namnet "Det mörka hotet". Filmerna som i handling var föregångare till de klassiska tre första filmerna, fick så där kritik och många fans var rätt besvikna. Men en ny generation fick ändå en bra anledninga att rota i videoarkiven.



Samlat manusförfattare

Nu kan det vara dags för ännu en generation att få växa upp med vrålande rymdskepp och exploderande himlakroppar. George Lucas sägs nämligen vara i startgroparna för att spela in Star Wars som tv-serie.

Enligt Entertainment Weekly så ska Lucas ha börjat med att leta reda på manusförfattare med den rätta känslan för rymdäventyr redan i februari 2006. Enligt olika källor ska de nu träffas nästa vecka för att gå igenom olika manusidéer, skriver Entertainment Weekly. Ryktet säger att det kommer att bli tretton avsnitt till att börja med.

"We want to be able to take all this technology we've developed over the years and make it accessible to everybody and try to make each one of the episodes [of the live-action TV series] look like a major feature film with all the production values and visual effects that you would expect in a feature but do it for a television budget."

"We've met a whole bunch of writers from literally all over the world – we have Australia left, that's the last place we're going to meet some people – we're hoping to get a group of six or seven writers ready sometime between September and December to make the final choice and then we'll start doing story outlines. As I said before, it's a much darker, much more character-based series, much more adult, and we’re hoping that it will go on for up to 400 episodes."

"I think if we can get [the live action Star Wars TV series] right, it's something that can go on for years and years. One of the ideas is that we'll have multiple series going on in about two or three year's time.

"We're definitely going back to Sydney to shoot [the live action TV series] and probably June of next year we'll start casting for it…I've had three conceptual artists working on it now for about seven months."

Aintitcool.com has some juicy details about the Star Wars live action series from their trusted source "Kuato." You can consider everything as rumor at this time, but a trusted TFN source is confirming the accuracy. See below for the cliff note version.

remembering that the series will be set between Episodes III and IV)

1. Pod Races will be revisited as the series will try to take in and revisit a lot in the SW universe we have come to know and love through the movies.

2. One of the Pod Racers highlighted will be a character named Thall Joben, who you may, or may not, remember from the Droids animated series.

3. We will see Rebel bases, Star Destroyers, Imperial troops, officers, undercover operatives and much more...

4. Expect to see some EU tie-ins (horray!) An example being a Rebel General with the last name Durron. Could this be the father or family member of the future Kessel slave turned Jedi, Kyp Durron?

5. We will see a character named General Papanoida who could be the very same character that George Lucas played during the Opera House scenes in Revenge of the Sith, Barron Papanoida.

6. We will see some characters from the films such as Bib Fortuna and Oola, the poor, rancor eaten, beautiful dancing Twi'lek.

7. The Death Star plans should come into play.

8. The series will go into detail with the characters and what makes them tick. Not everyone is either good or bad.

9. Look for the tone to be that of the Original Trilogy but a bit edgier.

Friend of TFN, Guillaume from France sent us some information from Rick McCallum speaking at Star Wars Reunion 2 in France this past weekend. See below for the info.

Live action:
- Boba Fett will certainly be in the series and Rick wants Daniel Logan for the part.
- The series will be on cable.
- He will have a contract for 100 episodes and Rick hopes it will be extend to 400, maybe with Expanded Universe characters after the first 100.
- So no EU character for "now" in the live action show. All the characters will be new ones.

Additional info for the live action series:
- Six screen writers have been hired and will start work in November
- McCallum hopes to have John Williams for the score but it is too early to tell
- Every episode will have it's own original score (If I may editorialize for a moment: They better get John Williams working on that now. That's a heck of a lot of music for 100 episodes let alone 400. Just start writing cool sounding music. We're sure it will work)

Tja, den killen har väl säkert växt till sig vid det här laget, så det gör nog inget alls. Tror inte det blir en så gullig tv-serie av alla kommentarer att döma i alla fall.

Jag har inga problem med om Logan spelar Boba Fett. Med tanke på att vem som helst kan vara i den rustningen så kvittar det för mitt vidkommande vem det är.

Det kommer bli en väldigt vuxen serie gissar jag på och det känns som rätt väg att gå.

Heh, nej det har väl igentligen inte jag heller. Det är nog mer ett skämt bland mig och mina kompisar som börjar bli lite gammalt. Sedan så har jag träffat honom på riktigt också. Fast han hade fullt upp med att flörta med alla tjejer som flockades runt honom (Med alla så menar jag 4 stycken). Tyckte nästan synd om honom för köerna till alla de andra kändisarna var jättelånga och där satt han och snackade med samma tjejer i ett par timmar.

Det är fullt möjligt att det finns fler jedis där ute. Palpatine, eller vem det nu var, skickade ju iväg en signal som kallade hem alla jedier till deras tempel, där de skulle möta deras undergång *dun-dun-duuuuun!!!", men Obi-Wan och Yoda stoppade ju faktiskt den signalen i Revenge of the Sith. Strax innan Kenobi såg inspelningen av Anakin som slaktar jedier och younglings.

Uh. Inte ens BSG eller Firefly (som väl är stora inspirationskällor till tv-serien?) är så råa. Det är inte Star Wars goez Oz, det är nog mest så att det ska vara den lite skitigare och mer "realistiska" stil som vi är vana vid från de gamla filmerna. Imperiet styr, galaxen är i oro osv. Jag kan tänka mig och hoppas på Firefly-stuket, skitiga skepp, rymdsmugglare, prisjägare och jedier på flykt. Det behöver inte vara brutala massmord i varje avsnitt dock.

Mycket bra information. Tycker det låter lockande att få se mer EU-anknytningar, ska man göra så många avsnitt som det ryktas om måste man nästan ta till det för annars lär det väl snart bli soppatorsk i manusförfattandet. Boba Fett är ju alltid en intressant men något överskattad karaktär. I och med serien så kanske man kan göra karaktären riktigt intressant igen. Jag gillar även att man får se hur allt rivs ner och byggs upp igen. Jag tycker att PT alltid har haft en lite "för fin" look om man jämför med hur OT ser ut. Nu kommer alltså en chans att få ta del av det.

Även intressant att man får se mera av Death Star, Rebel bases, Star Destroyers, Imperial troops och så vidare.

Nej familjen Marquand har gjort tillräckligt för StarWars, det räcker med Jedins Återkomst.

Varken Marquand d.ä eller d.y har gjort speciellt minnesvärda avtryck i film/tv-konsten. Låt någon mer meriterad eller mer spännande regissör ta över. Det var nära att Lynch fick ansvaret för Episod VI, i för sig kanske lika bra att han tacka nej..men det finns massor av yngre regissörer som gjort väl ifrån sig på tv/film, många har växt upp med StarWars och skulle säkert göra ett bra jobb och tillföra nya idéer.

Lyckligtvis verkar det som Lucas inte svarat Marquand d.y begäran.

Richard Marquand gjorde ju ett riktigt bra jobb med Return of the Jedi så jag förstår inte vad folk har emot honom. Jag hade hellre sett att någon annan än George Lucas regissera episod 1-3 för George är ingen bra regissör enligt mig. Tycker det bara låter bra att ta in regissörer utifrån istället för att George har med för många fingrar i spelet.

Ja, det var inget större fel på Epsiod 6 IMHO. Fast Lucas har gjort bra rullar också, framförallt Ep 4 och 3 är riktiga höjdare, tycker jag i alla fall.

A few updates from Star Wars and its two new television series in production.

I am really trying to find something interesting or clever to write about this but I got nothin'. After the prequels and the over-saturation of merchandise, Star Wars pretty much died for me. I hate to say it, but, I am actually a bigger Star Trek fan these days than Star Wars. Did I just say that out loud? Geez...I am getting old...

Well, Frosty over at Collider had some Star Wars info to share about the two new series.

Here's an excerpt of the news from Collider -

The live action and animated shows will be considered official canon of the star wars universe.

The live-action show is going to end up on whatever network pays the most. However, I’ve heard they’re talking about the show being on HBO or even Showtime. Which jives with the slugline for the show…think Deadwood meets The Sopranos. Want a bit more? Could the live action show feature Gangsters? Could it follow the underworld of the Star Wars universe? Perhaps even a crime family? Have I said too much? Again, think Deadwood meets The Sopranos.

The seasons for the live action show might be as short as 12 episodes… again…think Sopranos.

The show is definitely PG-13. I’ve heard it’ll be dark. It’s definitely not being made for kids.

The Skywalker story is finished. From what I’ve been told, their story is done and they aren’t on the live-action show at all. The show is new characters…with a few people you might know from the movies mixed in here and there.

And for those that don’t know….the animated show takes place between episodes two and three, while the live-action is between three and four. Obviously some storylines might take place outside of those times, but that’s where the primary action takes place. Just like while the live action might follow a crime family, there will be episodes that focus on other things.

Jag funderar på det där med att den animerade utspelar sig mellan ep 2 och 3... Det gjorde ju Clone Wars redan?

Dom spinner väl vidare på mikroserien "Clone Wars". Klonkrigen börjar ju i slutet av episod två och fortsätter väl även efter episod 3. Dom ville väl fokusera på klonkrigen lite mer med tanke på hur lite episod 2 och 3 egentligen tar upp detta. Medans dom fokuserar mer på efterdyningarna av klonkrigen med Live Action serien. Så har jag hela tiden tolkat det och informationen man fått reda på pekar åt det hållet mer och mer.

George Lucas was in Las Vegas this week, not for the loose women and fibreglass recreations of famous landmarks, but to bang the drum for the upcoming Live Action TV series.

We asked him about the current state of play on the long-planned live-action show, set to expand the Star Wars universe further. He was evasive on details, but he would say: "The live action show doesn't have any of the characters from the movies. It takes place at the same time, between episodes three and four, but it doesn't have anything to do with the Skywalkers. You kind of hear about the Emperor, and it takes place in that world, but it's like you have the TV show 24 and the TV show The Wire; they're in the same place but they're two completely different things." When we tried to push him on characters, he'd only say: "Well, we're still writing it, so I can't give anything away."

But, we like the fact that he's mentioning 24 and The Wire in the same breath. Clearly, he didn't mean to suggest that this show will be similar in tone to those shows – it was just an example – but we'd definitely watch a show about a lightsaber wielding dude on the edge dishing out cranky justice to terrorists and drug dealers.
