Bloody Disgusting - Watch the First 5-Minutes of Aliens vs Predator: Requiem!

Source: Yahoo! UK

Tuesday, December 11, 2007

Yes, more news this morning regarding 20th Century Fox's highly anticipated Aliens vs Predator: Requiem (trailers/clips), which hits theaters this Christmas. If you head on over to Yahoo UK you can check out the first five minutes of the film, which looks a little hammy - yet pretty damn awesome! It's slightly edited down, but you get the idea. In this follow-up to the worldwide hit AvP (which sucked balls), the iconic monsters from two of the scariest film franchises ever, wage war in an American Midwestern town - with the residents caught in the middle.

Alien breeds, Predator hunts, that's about it.

Bloody Disgusting - Red Band Japanese Trailer For Aliens vs Predator: Requiem

Monday, December 17, 2007

If you click here you can check out a red-band Japanese trailer for 20th Century Fox's Aliens vs Predator: Requiem, which arrives in theaters Christmas Day. I'm pretty excited for the film, although it won't be screened for critics - and we all know what that means. In this follow-up to the worldwide hit ALIEN VS. PREDATOR, the iconic monsters from two of the scariest film franchises ever, wage war in an American Midwestern town - with the residents caught in the middle.

Negativ recension. Vissa spoilers.

First time reviewer . . . will try to keep the spoilers down, but really, you won't care.

Remember Alien?

You know, that sci-fi flick where that spider thing grabs onto the guys face, and then later this thing bursts out of his chest and runs off? And you never really saw the alien, and the tension just kept building and building till the end?

And remember Predator? That kick-ass action movie with Arnold, the guy who played Apollo in Rocky, and Jesse The Body Ventura with the coolest gun EVER? And they were being hunted by this thing in the jungle that could make itself invisible and shot a laser cannon, and left skinned bodies hanging everywhere?

Yeah, those movies were awesome. I'm sure all you guys remember them.

The Strause Brothers, however, apparently have no fucking clue what I'm talking about. Which is pretty unfortunate since they were SUPPOSED to be directing Alien vs Predator: Requiem . . . turns out they were raping everyone in the theatre, taking their money, and stomping on babies as they ran away before the credits rolled. That's about what this movie felt like . . . watching babies getting stomped on. It's a horrible mess that you can't look away from, can do nothing about, and you know in your heart is just wrong, wrong, wrong.

It's almost like they were giving a sophomore english class book report on all the previous movies, but they just read the backs of the DVD cases instead of actually WATCHING them.

We start off right where the last AVP ended (and, for the record, I enjoyed that one . . . didn't love it, but it was definitely watchable and had some moments). The hybrid Predalien has just burst out of the dead Predator, and it runs off. About three seconds later, it's a full-blown Alien with dreadlocks . . . and right there is the problem that plagues the whole movie: NOTHING is properly developed.

Not one single character matters in this movie. They show up, they say exactly what their cliche demands, and then they're gone. A jock actually says, as seriously as possible: "we need guns" . . . in the convenience store . . . standing next to the gun rack. I'm pretty sure the entire audience isn't supposed to laugh their ass off while the people on screen are supposed to be terrified. Also, I think this is the most daylight an Alien has ever been in . . . and it is NOT scary.

What surprised me a bit, though, was how uselessly mean-spirited this movie is. ***SPOILER*** For example, a father and sun on a hunting trip find the downed spaceship with the Alien in it. Naturally, this allows all the facehuggers the Predators kept on their ship to escape (why the Predators had these things on the ship, I'm afraid we'll never know), and both the kid and the dad get an alien muzzle. Just leaving it at that would have been creepy, but later when the kid wakes up, he watches his dad die, and then we see the KID have his chest turned inside out. Now, in a GOOD movie, we would have had some relationship with the kid, and actually CARED that his torso now has a giant hole in it . . . but we don't. His entire screen time had to be less than 2 minutes. The scene was neither shocking nor cool . . . it was just there. Remember Newt? Cared about her, right? Felt nervous when she was gonna get eaten by the bitch? Thought so. If you're gonna kill a kid, at least let us learn the little fuckers name!

Now, about the Predalien . . . ugh. It really does look like they took an alien, gave it a weave, and glued some fangs on the side of it's mouth. That is, it looked like that when I could SEE the damn thing. It got almost no special treatment or time, and when it was fighting a Predator, all you could see were dreadlocks whipping around . . . couldn't tell who was who or what they were doing.

Oh, and ***SPOILER*** it can lay multiple alien embryos into human bodies through it's mouth. I literally yelled 'What the fuck!?' in the theatre. Fuck the alien eggs, it just puts 5 of the worms directly into already pregnant women, and they burst out about 3 minutes later. This means we get shots of dead pregnant women with burst stomachs in a paternity ward, and one live 'birth.' This, like the father and son, is over and done with so quickly it doesn't even register. Like I said, pointlessly mean.

And don't think you'll at least get to see some good Alien on Predator action . . . you know, like the word VERSUS would otherwise mean in a title. The total time with both of them onscreen couldn't have been more than 5 minutes . . . and it was pretty weak.

So, basically what I'm saying is this very well might be the worst film of the year . . . worse than 'Hitman' . . . YES, WORSE THAN THAT. There's one, ONE cool death, but I'll leave that alone for anyone who finds themselves trapped watching this waste of celluloid. No tension, no buildup, no payoff, no point. Go see 'Sweeney Todd' again, I guarantee you'll have a better time.

Hope that wasn't too much rambling, but yeah . . . this thing pissed me off.

If you guys use this, call me Toulon.

So how does credited screenwriter Shane Salerno try to build on the legacies of those beloved characters? WITH A FUCKING PIZZA DELIVERY BOY IN A SMALL TOWN IN COLORADO. That's the hero of the movie. He is sad because his boss makes him wear a hat and because he has the hots for a blonde model in his class, but she's dating an asshole bully who looks like Fred from Scooby Doo if he were 30 years old and trying to dress up as a contemporary high school student. (I'm betting they cut out the scene explaining that these characters are undercover narcs like on 21 JUMP STREET.) Fred makes fun of Pizza Boy for being a Pizza Boy so Pizza Boy calls Fred a fag so Fred takes his keys and throws them in the sewer! That will surely be an iconic scene everyone will always remember like Ripley in the powerloader or Dutch jumping from the Predator bomb.

:lol2:

EDIT: Bloody Disgusting recenserar filmen.

Ive seen it......#spoilers throughout#

.....and as expected it blows, and given that southland tales was the last movie I'd seen beforehand it fared no better. For those a little curious as to how Ive seen it, well....I work in a cinema which has been advertising all week a special christmas staff screening of an unreleased movie which they promised us would be one we would all want to see....it was AVP 2, they were wrong. And this is a 100% true, I wouldnt waste time making up such crap and find that sort of carry on pretty pathetic otherwise.....I just really hated this movie

Probably the worst thing about this movie outside the fact that its spitting on the legacy of 2 of the best sci fi/action movies of our time is what I call the lack of plot/terrible acting/woeful dialogue arc thats present throughout. the lead character whose name I cant remember the ex-con is particularly bad, this guys acting is an insult to inanimate objects made of wood everywhere, all his lines sound like they were taken directly from random hero sound board #2 including a cringeworthy "get to the chopper" and the hands down line of the movie, a dead pan, in the rain "people are dieing" to the sheriff with who for reasons known only to the rules of b movies have a mutual respect for each other, we never find out why(he gives him a lift at the start of the movie, they're pally see)

The rest of the characters are 2 dimensional clichés we've seen a thousand times before with random characters appearing as fodder to be dispensed with as soon as they are inexplicably introduced ,the fight scenes especially those between the predalien and the predator are terribly shot and you never can quite make out exactly which is which just 2 black shadows grappling up close, the ending is a rehash of countless other movies/videogames that reside within the genre...which for those who may be interested is as follows:

The remaining survivors commandeer an armored personnel carrier and receive radio transmission that the military will provide an evac from the center of the town however one of the group doubts the claim and gives info that theres a helicopter on the hospital roof(earlier the predalien enters the hospital and impregnates 4 pregnant women who give birth to a sundry of about 4 or 5 aliens each), the group argue run into more survivors heading to evac and split into 2 groups and a new fodder sorry character is introduced, they arrive some are killed as predicted although this provides the movies best moment when a wayward predator shuriken kills the dumb cheerleader/slut/teen love interest, they go to the roof main dude gets the predators gun shoots a lot of aliens, predator comes fights the predalien, the ex con his annoying little brother and the iraqi war vet and her daughter(who shape up as a terrible ripley/newt facsimile throughout the movie) escape in the chopper, the 2 big boys 2 black blurs tumble around ending with the predators spear in the aliens head and the aliens tail through the predators chest, the miltary drop an A bomb and the rest of the survivors along with the near death predalien and predator are obliterated, the chopper survivors crash in the woods and are met by the military who take the pred gun off the guy made of wood, cue to a scene of the shady military type from the radio transmission bringing a briefcase to a woman in an office only for it to reveal the pred gun, she mumbles something about it not being for this world and his response is "but its not meant for this world...Ms Yutani"........and thats it, an absolutely terrible way to end an absoulutely terrible movie, infuriating as a fan confusing to the general public.

This is a stinker of a movie and I urge you not to go see it so that possibly in the future it might deter execs from handing over cash to fools to make this crap.
