Jag själv köper inte att Superman skulle vara för präktig eller gammaldags för att vara en megahit idag. Singers största problem med Superman Returns var att han gjorde en mer nostalgisk gammaldags äventyrsfilm som är en 2.5 timmars hyllning till Richard Donners Superman:The Movie. Jag gillar Donners Superman. Jag gillade även Superman Returns. Men problemet här var att det var en sommaraction där Superman inte fick spöa upp nån. Om Singer hade gjort en "homage" till Superman II istället för Superman:The Movie så skulle man säkert redan spela in en uppföljare. Alltså med det menar jag att filmen skulle ha haft samma ton och känsla som Superman Returns fast vi skulle ha haft actionscener där Zod och diverse skurkar och Stålis själv flyger igenom byggnader, slänger berg på varandra etc... fighterna från Superman II fast med helt moderna effekter. Singers misstag var att ge Luthor en rätt löjlig gammaldags "plan" istället för att ge Superman starka fysiska motståndare. Jag dissar inte filmen här så att jag skulle ogilla den, jag menar bara att från ett marketing perspektiv så hade en actionfest varit bättre. Tänk själva om Superman Returns trailern skulle ha varit att en ond modern Zod står framför en oskyldig folkmassa och laddar upp värmesynen och säger "I will destroy these pathetic creatures"..... sen hör man några noter ur Superman Themet, och en nerskitad, spöad Superman (gärna att han blöder från näsan) dyker upp, manteln ser ut som en trasa , och säger "Like Hell!" och slår Zod i ansiktet med en lyktstolpe. Sen S-loggan och texten "Summer 2006. Superman Returns".

New Superman Trilogy In the Works From Wanted Writer Mark Millar?
Warner Bros. may scrap plans for a sequel to Superman Returns and reboot the entire franchise, courtesy of one of the best comic book writers in the business, Mark Millar!

In a recent interview, writer Mark Millar (Wanted, The Ultimates, Superman: Red Son) mentioned that he had been approached about revamping the Superman franchise. The revamp would be a trilogy, with all three films shot consecutively.

Millar said:

"A director approached me about three months ago and he said, 'Look, The Man Of Steel [the planned Bryan Singer sequel] might not be happening. If that doesn’t happen, it has been spoken about the possibility of me coming in, would you like to write it?’ And I was like, 'Yeah.'"

Millar went on to say:

“I’ve had this plan for like 10 years for a big three-picture Superman thing, like a big Lord of the Rings epic, starting over from scratch again with a seven-hour Superman story. And hopefully release them one year after another…if it works out, we’ll have to start shooting next summer.”

Nej, det var inte meningen att dissa dig, kan ju ha fel där. Det var mer en dissning av Mark Millar som tjatar och tjatar och tjatar om det här och det aldrig blir något av, på grund av olika konstiga anledningar han nämner.

Han kanske har rätt den här gången, men man har hört det här så många gånger att i alla fall jag har grymt svårt att ta det på allvar. Tror det när jag ser det. Men apropå Millar var det första gången jag sett honom på en video, och slogs direkt över vad kort han var och hur mycket skotska han pratade.

Ja, det är lustigt med folk man bara läst om och aldrig sett eller hört förut. Eftersom han skriver så många serier med amerikanska superhjältar tar man nästan för givet att han ska låta lite amerikansk själv.

Har sett flertalet filmer och bilder med han innan. Men just skottskan är det lite roligt att jag också visste om, för hans medarbetare inom Marvel, brukar skoja om den dialekten/brytningen, då dom pratar om honom i intervjuer.

Något naiva åsikter och en överhypare av sig själv. Jag tvivlar inte på att Millar skulle vara kapabel att skriva bra Superman filmer. Riktigt bra t om. Men som redan nämnt här så är karlen riktigt duktig på att marknadsföra sig själv och få sitt namn publicerad i tidningar.Grejen är att nu när Millar fått grejer som "Wanted" att bli en framgång på bio, och "Kick Ass" fått grönt ljus så har han lite cred även i Hollywood. Millars tjat om Superman har hållit på i nästan tio år. Förut var det hur han och Bryan Hitch skulle snart göra Superman för DC Comics (tjatet började säkert runt 2001 eller så) och på senare år så har det utvecklats till att Millar vill göra Superman filmer för Warner Brothers. Hoppas att Millar är mer än bara ord, eftersom om nu WB ska reboota världens första riktiga superhjälte, så litar jag faktiskt på att Millar är kapabel till att göra nånting bra.

Lex Luthor to be in 6th Superman Film... YET AGAIN!!!

You'd think after appearing as the villain in ALL 5 Superman films they would give Lex Luthor a rest--but no. According to actor Kevin Spacey, Warner Bros., "will be paying (Spacey) big bucks to reprise his role as Lex Luthor next year" in the 6th Superman movie.
Buried deep within a new interview with Spacey in the Belfast Telegraph is a tidbit about the sequel to Superman Returns, which co-starred the Oscar winner as the villainous Lex Luthor.

Following the sucess of the grim and gritty The Dark Knight, Warner Bros. Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov recently told the Wall Street Journal that the studio's upcoming DC Comics movie slate is "going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it," and the next Superman movie will be no exception.

The film is expected to reintroduce the Man of Steel to audiences by 2011.

Betyder det att vi får en uppföljare till Superman Returns, eller blir det som när de hade samma skådisar till Alfred och Commissioner Gordon i Batman-filmerna, och att Q spelades av samma en i alla Bond-filmer?

Hmmm, ja alltså för något år sedan så sa ju Spacey att han skulle spela Luthor igen. Långt innan WB började snacka nånting om Reboot planer(och jag tror inte att WB själva använt ordet reboot en enda gång) . Så antingen så har Spacey inte hört nånting av WBs nya planer eller så vill de faktiskt använda honom igen. Tror inte att det är någon fara med att det endast skulle vara Luthor Superman skulle tampas med i nästa film (när den nu kommer), reboot eller inte så lär det vara två skurkar, Luthor, och sen något fysiskt hot i stil med Braniac, General Zod, eller Doomsday.

Empire: Movie News - Exclusive: Mark Millar Talks Superman
Pitches his 'Magnum Opus' to Empire

Mark Millar wants to create an epic 8-hour screen story which will follow the entire life of Kal-El from his birth on Krypton a thousand years ago, until he is the last being left on Earth.

Empire sat down for a chat with comic book writer and creator Millar, the man behind Wanted and the upcoming Kick-Ass, and he filled us in on his pitch for the follow-up to Superman Returns.

Mark has been working closely with a ‘big-Hollywood action director’ – who he refuses to name at this stage – on a pitch for what he is calling the Magnum Opus of Superman stories. His idea is for an 8-hour saga, split into 3 films to be released a year apart, in a Lord of the Rings fashion. Although several other sources have reported similar conversations with Mark, he went into further detail, fleshing out the story arc a little more.

“It’s gonna be like Michael Corleone in the Godfather films, the entire story from beginning to end, you see where he starts, how he becomes who he becomes, and where that takes him. The Dark Knight showed you can take a comic book property and make a serious film, and I think the studios are ready to listen to bigger ideas now.”

“The problem with Superman Returns was like releasing Star Wars in ’77, The Empire Strikes Back in ’80 and then waiting 28 years to release Return of the Jedi, it wasn’t relevant. I understand what Bryan Singer was trying to do, to pay homage to Richard Donner’s original vision, but I think you should pay homage by doing something completely different.”

“I want to start on Krypton, a thousand years ago, and end with Superman alone on Planet Earth, the last being left on the planet, as the yellow sun turns red and starts to supernova, and he loses his powers."

Certainly no-one can ever say that Millar lacks vision and if he and his ‘bigHollywoodaction director’ friend get backing for the project, and we certainly hope they do, it might just prove to be the Godfather of superhero films.

IESB.net caught up with Superman Returns star Brandon Routh, who has a role in Kevin Smith's Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and asked about the "Dylan Dog" comic book adaptation Dead of Night (Routh says they start filming in mid-January) and possibly making the next "Superman" film darker. Here's a clip on the latter:

I don't know, I don't think the character necessarily has to be darker, I think he is kind of dark in a sense, emotional dark, in Superman Returns, and the movie as a whole was slightly dark, they could have had more prowess in it I suppose, and I think that's one thing that can be done in the sequel, so I don't know how much darker you want to make it necessarily. You make the stakes higher, you make the villain darker, I think that's a way to do it. But I don't think Superman himself needs to be darker. He definitely has to struggle, how does Superman be a part of the world? And does he have to make sacrifices to be a part of that world? To fit in and what purpose does he really play in the world? Those are all kind of dark places to explore. But, I don't think Superman should ever be dark and brooding, that's not is nature. And that's now what people what to see. Like Brainiac or something like that, a situation when the villain is...

There were a lot of things wrong with the last Superman movie — but the filmmakers did manage to find an actor with an uncanny resemblance to the late Christopher Reeve. Was casting Brandon Routh a good thing? Does that honor Reeve’s memory?

Not necessarily, said Reeve’s son Matthew, during a recent fundraising event called “A Magical Evening” to benefit the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation in New York on Monday (November 10). Matthew, along with his sister Alexandra and younger brother Will, do a lot of work to honor the actor we all think of as the Superman by aiding fundraising efforts to cure paralysis.

The Foundation’s raised $20 million so far, and on Monday, proved the money is going to good use by showing how they’ve helped one soldier, Lt. Reinaldo Gonzalez, recover. Told he would never walk again after coming home from the war injured, he actually walked on stage at the event. That is what honors Reeve, who in the hearts of his biggest fans, his three children, can never be replaced.

“As far as we’re concerned, there’s only ever going to be one Superman,” Matthew laughed.

So instead of worrying whether they should keep Routh or try to cast yet another actor who looks like Christopher Reeve in the upcoming reboot, Matthew suggested that Warner Bros. focus more on the story this next time around.

“There were lots of plot lines established, and it was very faithful to the original Donner films and sequels,” he told us, “and I’d be curious to know how some of those plot lines in the last one will be continued or abandoned. If you look at ‘The Dark Knight,’ that was a phenomenal movie, and hopefully they can do something as good with the next version of this one. It could be.”

Matthew’s advice, then, was this: “There are lots of fans of the comics and the films my dad did and the new one, and you can never please everyone. So just be original and creative and exciting, and I’m sure it will be successful.”
