KNBC - Actor, Lucasfilm Settle Over Indiana Jones Sequel Leak
A 24-year-old actor who reportedly violated his confidentiality agreement by giving away the plot for the next "Indiana Jones" movie reached a court-approved settlement Tuesday with the filmmakers, according to the film's producer.
A court entered an order that Oklahoma native Tyler Nelson "knowingly violated the confidentiality agreement he signed as a condition of his employment when he gave an interview to a newspaper," according to Lucasfilm Ltd., which is producing "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."
The order was entered Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court in Santa Monica, said Lynne Hale, publicist for Lucasfilm Ltd.
The film -- the fourth installment of the popular "Indiana Jones" series -- is being directed by Steven Spielberg. George Lucas is one of its executive producers. It is scheduled to be released in May.
The specific terms of the settlement are confidential, according to Lucasfilm Ltd.
Representatives from Thomas Talent Agency, which represents Nelson, were not immediately available for comment.
Last month, Nelson -- a ballet dancer who was trained at Moscow's Bolshoi Academy -- gave an interview with Oklahoma's Edmond Sun newspaper, detailing the film's plot, the New York Post reported. Nelson was cast in one scene as a "dancing Russian soldier," according to The Post.
By doing so, Nelson violated the terms of an agreement he signed requiring that he not discuss the film, representatives for Lucasfilm Ltd. said.
The interview has since been removed from the Edmond Sun's Web site.
"We ask every cast and crew member to sign a confidentiality agreement because we want to protect the movie's thrills and surprises for audiences," said Lynn Bartsch, director of business affairs for Lucasfilm Ltd. "Consequently, we think it's very important to make sure people hold to those agreements."
When asked if Nelson's scenes were to be cut from the film, Marvin Levy, a spokesman for Spielberg replied: "I have no knowledge of that."
When later asked if Nelson's reported actions would harm his acting career, Levy laughed and said, "That's for other people to figure out."

IESB - Grand Theft Indy
Tuesday, 02 October 2007
Steven Spielberg has another reason to be pissed off. Over 2000 production stills, production budget breakdown and other sensitive materials from Indiana Jones 4 were stolen from his office.
This is a story that we are going to be hearing much more of in the upcoming days but here is the skinny.
Over 2000 production stills, plenty of sensitive paperwork including a complete production budget breakdown, possibly the script from Indiana Jones 4 and multiple computers were stolen from Spielberg's Universal Studio office.
The thief started contacting multiple entertainment websites including TMZ.com and offering the stolen goods for a sum of $2000.00.
The IESB has been informed that TMZ.com may had obtained some of stolen property and were on the verge of running the story on its TV division until Paramount lawyers stepped in.
TMZ.com went as far as promoting their upcoming story but we have been informed that they have scrapped their original plans.
The good news for Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and the fine folks over at Paramount, the alleged thief was apprehended today, October 2nd, at the Standard Hotel in Los Angeles, CA. around 4:00pm PST.
We have been told that the thief was apprehended by LAPD and the FBI with the help of a member of the online press that had been offered the stolen property. Sources tell us that an undercover sting operation was set in motion late last night with the help of the unnamed member of the online press.
A meeting between the alleged thief and the unnamed online reporter was set up for 4:00pm at the Standard Hotel on Sunset Blvd. The sting went as planned and the arrest was made. The IESB has been told that the alleged thief was in possession of the stolen property.
We are waiting for Paramount Studios to issue an official comment at this time.
Charges to be filed against the individual are unknown at this time.
Stay tuned as this story develops.
UPDATE: Correction, it was the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in conjunction with the FBI and not LAPD as previously reported that took part in the sting operation.
FURTHER UPDATE: David Poland of Movie City News has an interesting take on the whole debacle. Click here to read.

MTV - George Lucas Promises "Crystal Skull" Will Be As Good As First Indiana Jones Flick
Director says the mythology of the new flick is "up there with the Ark of the Covenant"
LOS ANGELES — Ever since Shia LaBeouf announced the title of the next "Indiana Jones" adventure at the MTV Video Music Awards, everyone from ordinary movie fans to Harvard archeologists have obsessed themselves with the meaning behind crystal skulls, the legendary artifacts Indy will search for in his fourth big-screen journey.
But that's nothing compared to how long George Lucas himself has been obsessed with these antique crystals, the legendary director recently admitted to MTV News.
"We did "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" [TV show in 1992], and in the process of that, one of the scripts we were working on was about a crystal skull. I became fascinated with it there," Lucas revealed Wednesday on the red carpet for the American Film Institute's 40th anniversary at the ArcLight. "We've been through lots of different versions [of 'Indy 4'] the last 14 years, with five different writers. [But with crystal skulls] there's just a lot of aspects that seem to fit into our kind of a movie."
While Indy's Holy Grail "Crusade" gave him a taste of immortality, and his "Temple" quest for Sankara Stones brought him a glimpse of "fortune and glory," those relics are stuffy museum pieces compared to the power of the crystal skulls, Lucas asserted.
"I think this is actually better, it's up there with the Ark of the Covenant," he declared of the fourth film's "McGuffin" (a term coined by Alfred Hitchcock to describe an object which drives a film's plot). "Sankara Stones and the Holy Grail were a little tough, but I think this time we've really got a great one.
"The skulls themselves are real and a lot of the stuff in the movie is real, just like in the other movies," Lucas continued. "We don't base it on a lot of phony-baloney stuff. It's all based on at least true mythology that exists today that ... a certain amount of the population actually believes in."
Lucas emphasized that "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" is shaping up to be the best Indy flick since the first one, even going so far as to call "Skulls" tonally most like "Raiders." But whereas the Ark of the Covenant has very few historically ascribed powers, true believers attribute all sorts of abilities to the crystal skulls, ranging from the skulls being psychic amplifiers to tools of death to repositories of ancient knowledge (something like an Atlantian supercomputer).
So which theory will be in the film?
"There's several different kinds of skulls, several different kinds of theories, several myths that are surrounding them," Lucas said, clearly delighted by his secret knowledge. "So, you just have to put all the pieces together, look it up and figure out which one it is. Or just wait until the movie comes out, which is so much easier."
"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" opens May 22.

Spielberg Dishes On Indy 4
Steven Spielberg recently invited a few members of the online press to stop by the Indy 4 set for a short interview. According to IESB.net (who was onhand): "This was an impromptu luncheon and was not something that was planned months in advance and it was something that Steven Spielberg himself decided to do for online press after last weeks IndyGate photo fiasco." The details are displayed as highlights at IESB.net, not a detailed transcript so I won't just re-type their notes here.
Although, I did find it interesting that Mr. Speilberg ultimately said no to shooting digitally per George Lucas' suggestions, who was only on set for about 9 days and did no second unit directing.
Intressant. Undrar om och hur det kommer spegla av sig på filmen.

ComingSoon.Net - Frank Marshall on Indy 4
Source: Edward Douglas on December 6, 2007
Producer Frank Marshall has earned his reputation from working in the movie business for over 35 years, mostly working with Steven Spielberg on movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Amblin films, but also having huge hits on his own with blockbusters like The Sixth Sense and more recently, the Jason Bourne trilogy.
He told us why Steven and Harrison Ford felt that now was the time to return to Indy. "It's kind of been out there in the air, but we never had the right script, and we kind of put it on the backburner and then back in 2000, we all went to the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award for Harrison. George and Harrison and Steven and I and Kathy were all backstage all dressed up and we were looking at clips from the movies and we thought, ‘God, those were really fun. Maybe we oughta really focus on trying to do another one." And that's what happened. David Koepp came up with a great script finally, and we're done shooting and now in the editing process. It's pretty amazing."
"What we've done is we moved it from the '40s to the ‘50s so we're acknowledging that everybody's 10 or 15 years older and it plays into the story," he told us when asked about how things would be different from the earlier movies. "We're not trying to hide that Harrison's older, but we have Shia LaBeouf coming in as his sidekick, so we've got a young element. The best way to describe the movie is that it's an Indiana Jones movie. It's got all the style and elements of the old movies, and we're not really trying to do anything different."
"You're going to see a teaser poster later this month," he said when asked when we might be seeing some more from the movie.
Since the topic of discussion was "four-quels", we had to ask Marshall about the other one on his slate, specifically Jurassic Park 4, which had been talked about in recent years with no solid news in a while. He thought that they were still shooting for it to come out in the summer of 2009, but that they were also waiting for the strike to end to further work on the script. "There's an idea and we just have to see if it shakes out."
EDIT:
Det verkar tyvärr dröja ett tag innan vi får se en teaser trailer.
Nu verkar det klart att det kommer en trailer i Februari.
First up, the first trailer for Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is now planned for a debut in February. While we don't know for sure with which movie it will show, Paramount's biggest film that month is The Spiderwick Chronicles, so keep your eye on that one. Of course, it's possible Paramount will decide to debut footage earlier during the Super Bowl, but we're not sure.
