http://www.superhero...ews.php?id=6470

SHH - Heath Ledger on The Joker
Source: The New York Times on November 5, 2007
The New York Times talked to Heath Ledger about playing The Joker in Warner Bros.' highly-anticipated The Dark Knight, opening in theaters on July 18, 2008. Here are clips from the interview:
He is here in London filming the latest episode of the "Batman" franchise, "The Dark Knight." It is a physically and mentally draining role - his Joker is a "psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy" he said cheerfully - and, as often happens when he throws himself into a part, he is not sleeping much.
"Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night," he said. "I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going." One night he took an Ambien, which failed to work. He took a second one and fell into a stupor, only to wake up an hour later, his mind still racing.
Here too was his Joker diary, which he began compiling four months before filming began. It is filled with images and thoughts helpful to the Joker back story, like a list of things the Joker would find funny. (AIDS is one of them.) Mr. Ledger seemed almost embarrassed that the book had been spotted, as if he had been caught trying to get extra credit in school.
SHH - Dark Knight Scene Cancelled Due to Pollution
Source: Adam, des on November 4, 2007
The Associated Press (via CNN) reports that a scene that was to be filmed in Hong Kong for The Dark Knight was cancelled because of pollution in Hong Kong's iconic harbor (Spoiler ahead!):
A scene in which Batman was to drop from a plane into the harbor has been axed after the movie's producers found the water quality could pose a potential health risk, the South China Morning post reported in its Sunday edition.
"The plan was for Batman to be seen jumping into the water and then climbing up some bamboo, or something similar," the Post quoted an unnamed production official as saying.
"But when they checked a water sample, they found all sorts of things; salmonella and tuberculosis, so it was canceled. Now the action will cut to inside a building."
SHH - The Dark Knight to Make Noise in Hong Kong
Source: NineMSN on November 3, 2007
NineMSN reports that Hong Kong residents have been warned to expect a week of noisy evenings as a low-flying aircraft and helicopter film scenes for The Dark Knight.
Thousands of letters have been sent out by the film's production company telling residents that a helicopter and a C130 aircraft will swoop low over downtown areas to film the city's evening skyline.
The letter says the sound level will be similar to that of buses and promises that the production company will do all it can to "restore tranquillity ... as early as possible."
The Batman sequel will be filmed in Hong Kong from November 6 to 12. Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman are expected to be on location. IMAX cameras will be used for the shooting.
A major outdoor stunt for the Warner Bros. movie is to be filmed at the International Finance Centre (IFC) complex while the Peninsula Hotel will be used for other scenes.

Latino Review - Exclusive: The Joker Intro For TDK
Date: November 6, 2007
By: Kellvin Chavez
Source: Anonymous
This evening, here in NYC, I had dinner with an executive high up on the Warner Bros. food chain in which we spoke about the on going WGA strike and our conversation changed to one of the most anticipated films coming out next summer.
The following is what he had to say on the introduction of THE JOKER in the upcoming THE DARK KNIGHT!
WARNING! MAJOR PLOT SPOILER AHEAD! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!
The Dark Knight begins with the Joker robbing a huge bank (we've seen photos of this everywhere). The bank is where the mob and all the gangs in Gotham keep all of their money. The Joker takes this money and holds it "ransom". The Joker then says to the mob and the gangs of Gotham, "If you help me take down Batman, you'll get your money back. If not, I'm going to burn it all." This is how the Joker assembles his army to take down Batman.
I think it's pretty damn good idea to introduce him like that.

SHH - The Dark Knight Moves Into Post-Production
Source: Screen Magazine on November 13, 2007
Screen Magazine has published a good article on how The Dark Knight is moving into post-production after have wrapped filming in Chicago. Here's a clip:
Filmworkers/Astro processed the bulk of the footage shot in Chicago, with the exception of a chase scene filmed in IMAX. The lab made 35mm reduction prints and video dailies of that footage after it had been processed in Los Angeles.
"The Dark Knight" is being edited by Lee Smith of Beverly Hills-based The Gersh Agency. Audio post will be handled at Dolby Laboratories in San Francisco.
Visit the link above for the full article.
Wohoo!!!
