Ausiello: Just finished screening next month's special two-hour "extended episode" (aka Razor), and here's my one-word review: Frak! They need to find a way to bring Michelle Forbes' Admiral Cain back to life, 'cause, man, she is positively electrifying — not to mention a big ol' (rhymes with thespian). My second favorite thing about the movie, er, extended episode? The return of the original talking Cylons! I had no idea how much I missed those little buggers.

"When's Battlestar Galactica: Season Three coming out? When is Universal going to announce the third season of Battlestar?" You know, aside from "When is this format war going to be over?" I don't think we get asked anything more often.

Well, folks... it just so happens that we're Battlestar fans around here at The Bits too. So we asked our friends over at Universal. The long answer is (of course) that what follows is unofficial, as the title hasn't actually been announced yet and production is still underway on the special features. However... their short answer is that it's tentatively penciled into their release schedule for next Spring, specifically April 2008.

Yeah, I know that's a fracking long time. Don't kill the messenger. I'm just telling you what they told me. There's no specific word on why they're taking so long to get it done, other than presumably they're just trying to get all the extras finished. Perhaps they want to give Battlestar Galactica: Razor plenty of time by itself on the DVD shelves, so that all you fans will make sure to buy it. Maybe they want to have another DVD product to sell during Season Four's mid-season break. Maybe they're working on an HD-DVD version as well (that's not official or anything, but it seems a likely possibility). Anyway, as of now, April 2008 it is.

Jag vill inte vänta så länge...

Typiskt. Jag hade verkligen hoppats få se om s3 innan s4. Men jag antar att eftersom s4 är sista säsongen så känner dom ingen brådska med s3 släppet. Fast skumt ändå att inte släppa boxen före s4 premiären.

Men så länge dom jobbar på mer extramaterial så är det ju bra.

Om jag ska behöva vänta så länge så hoppas jag verkligen på att extramaterialet kommer bi något utöver det vanliga. Chanserna finns ju att det blir så då dom har mera tid till det om releasen blir först nästa år.

EDIT:

Too bad about the extremely long wait for the Season 3 DVD set of BG. If memory serves, the Season 2 DVD set came out in September of 2006, so this wait will be 1 year and 7 months.
Whoever is responsible for these DVD sets (Universal, Sci-Fi Channel, etc.) should be sympathetic to the fact that not everyone has cable and can only watch this show on DVD. After all, the DVD release of BG Season 3 is already available in the UK.

I suspect that some of the reason for the long wait is because of the DVD release of "Razor" in early December, and also the fact that "Galactica 1980" is coming out on DVD at the end of December. It's possible that the producers of the show don't want too many BG DVD products on the shelf at the same time.
Also, Season 4 isn't coming out for a while and usually the DVD set of the previous season of a TV show comes out the month before (or the month of) the airing of the new season.

However, they still could've released Season 3 on DVD in September 2007, which would've been a respectable amount of time before the DVD release of "Razor" and "Galactica 1980" in December. Oh well....

Snappade upp detta från ett annat forum. Har missat helt att Galactica 1980 ska släppas som R1. Förklaring till väntan enligt den här personen låter rätt trolig måste jag säga, det kanske blir lite för mycket på en gång. Jag säger inte att jag tycker det är bra, utan mer bara konstaterar att det ligger någonting i påståendet.

TrekWeb received the following synopsis for the upcoming Battlestar Galactica telemovie "Razor", scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 24

LOGLINE: Wartime atrocities dating back to the first Cylon war, and others more recent, haunt Admiral William Adama, young Battlestar Pegasus officer Kendra Shaw, and her mentor Admiral Helena Cain.

For the officers, Viper pilots and Marines of the Colonial Fleet, there is no higher honor than to be judged a "Razor." Nor is it an honor that can be earned in peacetime. Razors are forged in the heat of battle as fear, hesitation, and any other instinct that can spell the difference between life and death are burned away until what remains is an unflinching human weapon. Only that Razor's edge can cut two ways: it can slash an enemy or cleave away a warrior's soul.

One such warrior is the ambitious young officer Kendra Shaw (Stephanie Jacobsen). On the eve of the Cylon attack, she reports for duty on her new ship - the Battlestar Pegasus, under the command of Admiral Helena Cain (Michelle Forbes) - and embarks on a harrowing six-month struggle for survival with its crew. Taken under Cain's wing, Shaw becomes her protégé, a surrogate daughter, and finally an extension of the Admiral's own ruthless will. Nothing less than a Razor.

After Admiral Cain's death, Shaw's beliefs are challenged when she's chosen to assist Pegasus' new commander, Lee Adama (Jamie Bamber), on a mission to destroy a heavily guarded Cylon base ship along with the mysterious entity it was built to protect. When the mission goes badly wrong, a wounded Shaw and Kara Thrace (Katee Sackhoff) are forced to hole up on the Cylon ship. As the hope of rescue grows dim, the two battle-hardened warriors forge a bond and Shaw begins to confess the details of a tragic wartime incident she took part in under Admiral Cain, an incident that has haunted her ever since.

A Razor to the end, Shaw ultimately fulfills her mission, but in the process finds a measure of redemption. Lee Adama, meanwhile, struggles with his own razor-sharp demons as he faces the challenges of his first command, and the dire choices it entails - choices not dissimilar to the traumatic dilemmas that had shaped the commands of his father and Helena Cain a generation earlier in the first Cylon war.

Verkar ju kunna vara hur bra som helst ju! Tur att man. till skillnad från många andra, fortfarande har säsong 3 och se fram emot.

Har du inte sett den än? Eller inväntar du som jag, boxen så att du kan se om säsongen?

Btw, jag läste en artikel för några dagar sedan där det stod uttryckligen hur många avsnitt som Mary McDonnell (Laura Roslin) har kvar på sitt kontrakt vilket mer eller mindre skulle göra att man kan lista ut ungefär hur länge hon är kvar i sista säsongen innan hon dör eller lämnar den på annat sätt. Är det någon annan som läst den artikeln och kan hjälpa mig hitta den igen?

Jag köper region 2 boxarna - och den är släppt tror jag - fick senilryck sist jag skickade efter från discshop och valde en annan serie.

Se så, avslöja nu för oss andra vad det var för serie du fick istället?

Den brittiska utgåvan finns att köpa men är väl rätt dyr via t.ex. discshop och då missar man ju även webisoderna och allt fint extramaterial, men det kanske du kan vara utan? En svensk utgåva kommer väl också framöver kan jag tänka mig.

Extramaterial har jag mer eller mindre släppt - främst för att jag accepterat att jag sällan (eller snarare aldrig) ser på det. Däremot så har jag hört att webisoderna inkluderats i form av ett förlängt avsnitt. Jag mejlar discshop och frågar. (De borde veta).

Edit: Hercules - Säsong 2. Ett måste i varje Xenties dvdsamling. (Och det var jag som fick hjärnsläpp, hoppas det framgick.)

Tror inte att webisoderna medföljer den brittiska utgåvan. Har för mig att jag läst på andra forum av folk som köpt boxen och att det bara är episoderna i säsong 3, en typisk vaniljutgåva med andra ord. Inget extra alls, varken webisoder eller extramaterial.

Men du kan fortsätta hålla huvudet högt, Hercules är bra. Det hade varit en annan sak om det t.ex. hade varit den den här boxen.

Herc är inte fullt lika bra som Xena (men jag är ju partisk) men helt OK underhållning som funkar bättre än mycket skräp som produceras på senare tid.

Och om jag någonsin köper tecknat på dvd så är det i första hand The Mysterious Cities of Gold och sedan barndomsfavoriten "Duck Tales". Så det så. Du har min tillåtelse och skjuta mig om jag beställer den där...

Edit: I värsta fall får jag leta reda på webisoderna på annat håll.

Bara att jag går in på discshop's hemsida och letar upp den där länken borde medföra att jag straffas...

Jag skulle inte ha någonting emot att äga både Duck Tales eller De Mystiska Guldstäderna på DVD. Två riktigt bra serier. Du har riktigt bra smak har jag märkt.

Ang. webisoderna så är det bara någonting jag läst på andra forum så egentligen vet jag inte till 100% om dom är med på den brittiska boxen eller ej. Det lutar väl åt att dom inte är med där men det gör inget om discshop eller någon annan kan bekräfta eller dementera det hela.

Det verkar som om webisoderna förbehålls den amerikanska marknaden.

Säsong 3 innehåller ett bonusavsnitt som heter BG so far. Ett hopplock av
vad som har hänt tills sista episoden. Något annat avsnitt finns inte.

Uppe på det så fick jag ett tips om att det finns en miniserie... Vad nu BSG: The MiniSeries har med min fråga om webisoderna från säsong 3 och göra.

Sådant här får inte folk och avstå från att ladda ned...
