Los Angeles Times - Battlestar Galactica news: The show will premiere in early April, Ron Moore will direct an episode
Ronald D. Moore, the executive producer who runs Battlestar Galactica, is gearing up for the long goodbye by taking on a new task. He will step into the director’s chair for the first time next season as his dramatic reinvention of the hokey 1970s' space opera treks toward the end. The final 20-episode run will kick off in — you read it here first — early April.
Moore's work on the show as a writer-producer landed Battlestar its first Emmy nomination in the drama writing category, where he faced off against the writers of The Sopranos and Lost. A veteran of the Star Trek series The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager, Moore is also juggling writing duties for the upcoming feature films The Thing and the sequel to I, Robot.
About his directing debut, Moore said, "It’s the perfect opportunity to try and do it here with my family — the cast and crew of the show — who have been working together for years now.
"For all I know, I’ll hate directing, but right now I’m hungry for it."

Angående releasen av säsong 3 på DVD.
I just thought of something they could be thinking with the Season 3 DVD release date. I hope I'm wrong, but here it is:
They could want to wait until everyone has the Razor DVD, then include Razor with Season 3 and use it as an excuse to hike the price of the Season 3 DVDs.
Like I said, I hope I'm wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me.
I sense an unexpected mid-season cancellation in the offing.

I hope you're fraking with me. There will be a lot seriously pissed off Battlestar fans if that happens. We've all invested the last three years of our lives following and supporting this show and now we're being asked to wait an extra FIVE MONTHS for the final season and the Season 3 DVDs. By the time the show comes back it will have been a YEAR since the end of Season 3 . I realize that there is a writer's strike, but I almost wonder if Sci-fi is intentionally trying to kill Battlestar. I hope that RDM is smart enough to realize that a midseason cancellation is going to do nothing except make a lot of people want to crucify him.

Man ska aldrig underskatta bolagens girighet.I just thought of something they could be thinking with the Season 3 DVD release date. I hope I'm wrong, but here it is:

Battlestar Galactica -Reasons Revealed For 3rd Season DVD Delay
Release Timed To Tie-In With 4th Season Broadcast Debut - 10/26/2007
Last week we passed along info from our friends at The Digital Bits website, that Battlestar Galactica - Season 3 DVDs were being held up for release until April 2008. There's been lots of speculation about why this is, both at The Bits and elsewhere. Theories mostly have to do with completing the extras, or possibly combining webisodes into one long "feature" among the extras, or making a high-def disc version to release at the same time, or the studio wanting the Razor DVD to have a chance to sell on it's own for a while.
"None of the above" appears to be the answer today. Yesterday our friends at TheDigitalBits.com posted about a story in the L.A. Times, stating that the show's 4th (and final) season will begin airing in April 2008. Our good friend, Bits-runner Bill Hunt, speculated at his site that the reason for the DVD delay on the third season would be to tie in with the broadcast debut of the show's fourth season premiere.
Our sources confirm the cause for the delay; it's no surprise since the studios prefer to tie their DVD releases to the new season premieres. Just as soon as we get a specific street date for the 3rd Season set, we'll be certain to let you know. Stay tuned!

Trekmovie.Com - Strike May Cut Heroes Season In Half + Lost, 24 and BSG Also Affected
What about BSG?
The LA Times is also reporting that Ron Moore's Battlestar Galactica has 10 shows completed. On the SciFi channel forums Ron Moore's wife announced that the second half of the season may be delayed due to the strike. BSG's 4th season starts in early April of 2008. A stand-alone two hour BSG TV movie Razor airs later this month on the Sci-Fi channel and will also be sold on DVD.
