New Tolkien Book Coming
An unfinished tale by Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien has been edited by his son into a completed work and will be released next spring, the U.S. and British publishers told the Associated Press.
Christopher Tolkien has spent the past 30 years working on The Children of Hurin, an epic tale his father began in 1918 and later abandoned. Excerpts of The Children of Hurin, which includes the elves and dwarves of Tolkien's Rings and other works, have been published before.
The new book will be published by Houghton Mifflin in the United States and HarperCollins in England.
Behöver världen verkligen ytterligare ett (egentligen) oavslutat verk av JRR Tolkien? Jag vill inte föringa Chistophers arbete här, men allvarligt?New Tolkien novel due to hit stores next year
Take a deep breath, Tolkien Fans. J.R.R.'s son Christopher is readying material from his late father's notes to put together a new book called The Chidlren of Hurin that will be published next year. Some of it has already appeared in the Book of Lost Tales and the Silmarillion. On second thought, it's probably only of interest to those of us who've read the 12-volume history of Middle Earth.
If you're a real fan, you may be more excited by the news that there is a real estate development modelled after The Shire. I suppose the Mordor development was a non-starter.
It's been a while since I posted anything about Tolkien which is why I'm only now linking to this site featuring the art of the Brothers Hildebrandt. Their paintings of Middle Earth are how I always imagine Tolkien's universe.
