Synopsis: Bruce Campbell spelar B-skådespelare Bruce Campbell, mest känd för filmer som "Evil Dead" och "Bubba Ho-tep". Men som han framställer denne Bruce här är han en självupptagen och hårt supande skådespelare med mycket begränsad talang, med inte mycket mer än förakt till övers för sina missanpassade fans. Men när ett av hans fans råkar släppa ut ett monster i en småstad i Oregon, förutsätter man att hjälten Bruce ska rädda alla, som han ju bevisligen gjort förut.

Har känt till den här filmen sen ett tag tillbaka. Gillar Bruce Campbell, så det kan vara rätt kul att se honom driva med sig själv. Synd bara att de använder ett så uttjatat grepp som "skådis-som-misstas-som-hjälte-och-kallas-till-hjälp". Det har de redan använt i Tre Amigos, Galaxy Quest och Ett Småkryps Liv. Det behöver förstås inte betyda att den filmen är dålig för det...

Have you ever seen Bruce Campbell as a heavenly angel? With all the work he's done, the above image is something I never dreamed I would see. They should axe mall santas and use him at Christmas time. Anyway...

It's about friggin' time -- My Name is Bruce is going to hit theaters this October, and then descend upon DVD shelves everywhere in January 2009. I was beginning to think this whole flick was made and then hidden away, serving as an endless taunt for those of us who adore Bruce Campbell. I posted about pictures all the way back in 2006. Scott shared the trailer last December.

Now Horror-Movies.Ca has some new pics for our enjoyment, such as that absolutely wonderful one above. The gallery also includes a diner shot group meal, some monster fighting, a trio of musicians, and Bruce being a helpful pointer. In case you forgot -- the film focuses on a small town that gets taken over by demons, so they get Bruce to come and save the day. It also features lines like: "It's just you and me, Top Ramen."

Så på amerikanska biografer i Oktober och på DVD i Januari 2009 är det som gäller just nu. Något att se fram emot.

Shock Till You Drop - My Name Is Bruce ~ Release Date and Sequel News!

ShockTillYouDrop.com attended the Saturn Awards on Tuesday night in Universal City, California and caught up with Dark Horse Comics' Mike Richardson, who told us that Bruce Campbell's My Name is Bruce will hit theaters this October.

"Some people maybe thought the film fell out or that there was something wrong with it," Richardson says, touching on Bruce's slow journey getting before wide audiences. It was roughly a year ago that it screened to CineVegas film fest attendees. "We did our shoot, put it in the can and the studio that financed it liked it so much they gave us more money to do a second shoot. We beefed it up so it could go into the theaters."

But that's not all! Richardson said that a sequel, titled My Name is Still Bruce, is in the works as well. Dark Horse Entertainment and Image Entertainment will distribute both films.

In the first film, directed by Campbell from a script by Mark Verheiden, Campbell is mistaken for his character Ash from the "Evil Dead" trilogy and forced to fight a real monster in a small town in Oregon.

BD Horror News - New Trailer For 'My Name Is Bruce'

One of the most eagerly awaited movies has to be Bruce Campbell's My Name is Bruce, and now there's a new trailer to whet your appetite until the movie is released in October (finally!!). The film is the tale of a small town set upon by demons after a group of teen-agers unwittingly unleash an ancient curse. Campbell, playing himself, is kidnapped off the set of a B horror movie and, despite his protestations that he's just an actor, is forced to play the role of his heroic movie character in order to save the town. My Name is Bruce beats High School Musical 3, Zack and Miri, Saw V and even The Changeling?!

The Bruce Campbell film takes the highest per screen average at $18,800 this box office weekend according to Box Office Mojo. The Dark Horse Indie film being released by Image Entertainment had a limited release this past weekend in New York.

Bruce Campbell is taking My Name is Bruce on a promo tour throughout the country that will also include an intro to the film and followed by a Q&A.

My Name is Bruce is the heroic struggle of a small mining town (Gold Lick, Oregon) to rid itself of a vengeful monster. Guan-di (Jamie Peck), the Chinese god of war and protector of the dead, has been unleashed by cemetery desecrating teenagers to protect the graves of Chinese miners lost in a deadly cave-in of yesteryear.

The deadly demon’s mission is to eradicate all those who transgressed against the tomb (relatives included), which is virtually the entire population of Gold Lick. The inbred community has to find a solution so Jeff (Taylor Sharpe), the sole survivor of a deadly Guan-Di encounter, takes it upon himself to kidnap his idol, Bruce Campbell (Bruce Campbell), star of countless B-movie horror films, and recruit him to be their local savior.

Mortified at first, Bruce eventually goes along with Jeff’s prank, convinced that it’s all an elaborate birthday present from his agent (Ted Raimi), and begins to enjoy the spoils of being a movie hero, including free liquor and Jeff’s attractive mother, Kelly (Grace Thorsen).

But Jeff’s scheme goes horribly wrong when his hero, known more for fighting directors than mythical warriors, haphazardly leads the town in battle against Guan-Di. Confronted by a monster that’s not a guy in a rubber suit, and with the blood of innocents on his hands, Bruce abandons the harsh reality of Gold Lick for the sanctity of his former, artificial life.

In his ramshackle desert trailer, Bruce resumes the daily grind of genre sequels, poor housekeeping and cheap whiskey, but a gut-wrenching call from his biggest fan, Jeff - now forced to take on Guan-Di alone - prompts the actor to re-evaluate his destiny.

Against his better judgment (and the angry citizens of Gold Lick), Bruce returns to defeat Guan-Di, save Jeff, and snag his hot mother. In the climactic, mano-a-monster, Bruce tries to rise above the miserable, off-screen schmuck that he is and become a hero…in real life.

High-Def Digest - My Name Is Bruce Headed to Blu

Image Entertainment has announced plans to bring the cult action-comedy My Name is Bruce to Blu-ray this February.

Written, directed, and starring Bruce Campbell, My Name is Bruce features the cult icon as a man mistaken for his famous Ash character (from the Evil Dead movies) who is forced to save the world -- or at least the state of Oregon -- from evil.

Image will debut the Blu-ray on February 10, day-and-date with the standard DVD.

Tech specs will see 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and English DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround audio.

There are no extras announced as of yet, but we'll keep you posted.

Suggested retail price for the Blu-ray has been set at $34.95.

The horror-comedy, which finds Campbell playing a distorted version of himself and saving a town from a supernatural threat, is currently touring the U.S. Richardson reveals there are still plans to hatch a sequel and dishes a bit of the plot. "We have an idea where [Bruce] is going to visit a country in Europe and he thinks he's got an all-expense-paid stay there," he explains. "They put him up in a big castle and he thinks there are groupies running around, but they're not really groupies, they're minions. It's Bruce and he's going to play the same clueless character."

Expect Ted Raimi - who plays multiple roles in the first Bruce - to encore, possibly in drag. Says Richardson, "I was on the phone with Ted Raimi telling him I was going to put him in a dress. He said, Great, I'm trying to extend my acting range."

So you want Bruce Campbell in your film. You’ve spent many sleepless nights writing the script. You’ve scraped together a budget. And you’re ready to start casting. You think a name like Bruce Campbell is going to help your flick fly off the DVD shelves. Now all you have to do is get him on board.

Well, it might not be as easy as you think. While promoting his tour of My Name Is Bruce, the legendary Mr. Campbell took some time out to speak with Film School Rejects about his career, his favorite films and what it takes to land him in your picture.

Campbell directed My Name Is Bruce, which is current in the middle of a 22-city road tour. He’s spent time in front of the camera and behind it, and while many of his films are a ton of fun, Campbell insists on a professional set.

“If you’re have too much fun, you’re not really getting work done,” Campbell told Film School Rejects. “My theory is that you’re not making friends; you’re making movies. So I don’t really want people chit-chatting on my set. Just shut up, do your work, and do it fast. Because it’s a business, and we’ve got to get it done in a certain amount of time.”

After spending decades in productions that range from micro budgets (like the first Evil Dead) to $200 million blockbusters (like the Spider-Man flicks), Campbell has figured out what works best for him in movies. So, he shared with us his four rules he follows when he accepts a part…

* The director must have experience: “I now have an official first-time director rule. That’s an official no.”
* The movie can’t have “Zombie” in the title: “That’s an instant no.”
* It also can’t have zombies in the movie: “Anything zombies is an immediate walk-away.”
* The script must be special: “It has to be something that makes me nervous when I read it.”

Image Entertainment is planning a DVD and Blu-ray release of Bruce Campbell's My Name is Bruce for February 10th.

Today, the distributor has unveiled the special features that will be included in their presentation.
