SHH - Michael Bay Has Written Transformers 2

Transformers 2 director Michael Bay told Rotten Tomatoes at the Visual Effects Society awards that he's already written the sequel and will pass on his script to the screenwriters, who are coming off of the strike:

"I've been writing Transformers 2," said Bay. "We've got our characters all designed. I always write all my scripts, my movies anyway so at least I've got something to give the writers. It's like a template. We have a really good outline so I worked on that." It might be a tad unorthodox, but Bay has high pressure demands. "We had to because I want to make my date. I'm not going to let the strike take me down."

Bay also spoke to IESB, who he assured that we won't be seeing Dinobots in the follow-up. ILM's Scott Farrar also told the site that there will be a lot more robots this time and that the animatics look amazing so far.

Transformers 2 is scheduled for a June 26, 2009 release.

Äsch, ville också att Dinobots skulle vara med. Är ju meningen att dom ska rampa upp actionen för varje gång, och det bästa sättet att göra det är att introducera några av specialkoncepten som kom till Transformers senare livslängd.

Dinobots, Kombinator-team ( flera robotar som blir en större) i 2an, och sen multiforms transformers, såkallade Tripple-changers och stadsstora Transformers som Metroplex och Trypticon i 3an ( dom är så stora att deras alternativa former blir enorma stadsliknande fort när dom transformerar sig) hade ju varit rena dynamiten att öka upp med i efterföljarna.

Sen tror jag inte att Kermit borde oroa sig sådär jättemycket över att Bay skrivit manus, för han säger ju där att han bara jobbat vidare på det som dom tänkt ut förut, och gjort en liten mall över vad han tänkt sig att grundstoryn ska vara och lite över vad han hade velat ha med i filmen.

CHUD - Michael Bay Not Writing Transformers 2 His Damn Self

Most of y'all may ridiculed the notion of Michael Bay deigning to write an actual screenplay, but I'd personally welcome the idea if it meant throwing over whatever Ehren Kruger has fashioned from the hackneyed storytelling of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman for Transformers 2. Why shell out upwards of ten figures on three writers when "And then Optimus Prime throws Megatron through the State Hermitage Museum lengthwise" is all the story we require?

Sadly, Bay is going against his purest instincts and letting the aforementioned trio gang bang his precious... whatever it was he claimed to have a few weeks ago. An outline, I guess. But he kind of contradicts his earlier assertion with this comment to Variety's Michael Fleming and Patricia McClintock:

"[The writers] did a detailed outline before the writer's strike, and now they are in Michael Bay jail, holed up in a hotel and working feverishly," Bay said. "We're paying for a beautiful suite and they are getting a lot of work done. Hiring three writers was unusual, but it has been a godsend in getting us to where we need to be. Somehow you find a way to get it done."

By "they are", I assume he means that Orci, Kurtzman and Kruger are jointly banging away at the screenplay for Transformers 2 like Inspector Clouseau and Kato erecting The Silver Hornet (Orci and Kurtzman were originally contracted for story only). This raises a couple of questions: 1) Isn't this the way the world ends?, and 2) If Orci and Kurtzman are truly locked up in "Michael Bay jail", who's rewriting Star Trek?

If the answer to that second question is "J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof", then yay. All told (and no offense to Mr. Bay), I'd rather have Orci and Kurtzman fucking up another Transformers movie than the reboot of Star Trek. But if they're just multitasking... well, geez, I'd hate to see what a distracted Orci and Kurtzman screenplay looks like.

No cast has been announced yet (although we know Shia LaBeouf is in), but according to [url="http://"http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/transformers-movie-9/?quot;"]TFW2005.com[/url] filming for Transformers 2 begins on June 2nd (we assume in Philadelphia).

Paramount is currently eyeing a June 26, 2009 release date for the sequel.

Apparently, Bay has announced that the various "Transformers 2" reports and rumors that are circulating the Web are nothing more than works of pure fiction distributed by the studio. Why? Transformers Go Superbad?

UK, April 30, 2008 - Although Transformers 2 is months away from going into production, some early casting news has already hit the net.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Jonah Hill, star of Superbad, Knocked Up and the recently released Forgetting Sarah Marshall, is in talks to provide comic relief in the big-budget sequel.

According to their source, Hill will play Shia LaBouef's college roommate in the film, although DreamWorks have neither confirmed nor denied the rumour.

Transformers 2 will shoot this summer, in preparation for a June 26, 2009 release.

Teresa Palmer, the Australian actress set to star in WB's Justice League, has moved on a another major blockbuster, Transformers 2!

Aussie newspaper Courier Mail had the following casting info today,

She was up, up and away as part of the cast of the beleaguered Justice League of America, but Teresa Palmer's film fortunes have transformed again.

While her Justice role as baddie Talia al Ghul is seemingly in a permanent holding pattern, the talented Aussie actress, pictured, has apparently landed a role in the Transformers sequel, Transformers 2.

Her casting follows an Aussie theme for director Michael Bay. The blockbuster auteur cast another Aussie, Rachael Taylor, in the first live-action Transformers feature and the Tassie actress has been busy ever since, appearing in the Alan Rickman drama Bottle Shock and more recently Deception with Michelle Williams.

Palmer, too, has been busy of late, moving swiftly from the postponed George Miller-directed Justice League to star opposite Adam Sandler in Bedtime Stories.

Question is, which character would Teresa Palmer fit? A look back at the casting sheet for the film, that IESB exclusively had, it's quite possible she could be playing Sam's (Shia LaBeouf) ex-girlfriend - late teens to early 20s, cute and cerebral– a total arty girl that leads her own punk band...

That's pretty much the only one that would make sense. We shall see!

Isabel LucasLast month it was reported that Australian hottie Teresa Palmer had been cast in Michael Bay’s Transformers 2. Bay denies the casting on his personal blog, claiming that “Teresa Palmer was not considered for a role.”

To complicate things further, IGN is now reporting that another Aussie actress Isabel Lucas (pictured right), has been cast in the role of Alice in the sequel. Lucas is a newbie, and will be seen in the upcoming vampire flick Daybreakers, and the HBO miniseries The Pacific. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura promises that the big casting announcements will be made over the next several weeks.

Spoiler TV - Transformers 2 Casting and Production Update

Recently, the news broke that Jonah Hill won’t be rolling out in “Transformers 2” after all. It’s sad, sad news for movie fans hoping the sequel would get a legitimate comedic-sidekick injection rather than, say, filling the role with Dax Shepard.

According to series producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the movie has had to move on without the “Superbad” star – but we can still expect some big announcements over the next several weeks.

“No, no,” he said of Hill’s reported casting. “Ultimately, we’ll have a couple casting surprises for everybody soon.”

Director Michael Bay and returning stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox and Jon Voight are reportedly on board to return, and Bonaventura confirmed plans to start shooting the movie in Philadelphia and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania next month.

“Michael’s got some really great stuff planned,” he added.

The super-producer, who we caught up with this week on the Downey, CA set of his equally massive blockbuster franchise “G.I. Joe,” also shot down rumors that Bay would finally create a long-rumored character. “A transforming aircraft carrier?” Bonaventura repeated, denying its existence. “We saw a Japanese film that had something like that, so maybe that’s where that comes from.”

“We never really talked about that, practically speaking,” he said of the character who might or might not have been known as Broadside, and who Bay has said was simply too expensive to create. “There was some Japanese animated movie we saw where that occurred, and we were like ‘Wow! Look at that thing!’”

Transformers 2 Coming in 3-D?

The "2008 ShoWest Edition" of the Dolby newsletter (in PDF format) has a list of upcoming 3-D releases and includes Transformers 2 (as well as Steven Spielberg's Tintin). We're hearing that, although it's on the list, the sequel is not a lock yet for a 3-D release. A final decision will be made based on the availability of Digital 3-D and IMAX 3-D screens. The big problem facing the Transformers sequel is that Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs comes out just five days later and would rule out a majority of the Digital 3-D screens.

In related news, director Michael Bay has confirmed on his message board that he has cast Aussie actress Isabel Lucas for the role of "Alice" in the sequel.

Transformers 2 Will Be 3-D

The robot-on-robot battle action will be even more in your face — literally — for Transformers 2.

Director Michael Bay confirmed yesterday that the upcoming sequel will take advantage of 3-D technology and projection systems. Bay announced the news is the latest Dolby newsletter.

And while this is great news, the limited number of theaters with 3-D capability may limit how much of the country and world gets to see the sequel in Digitial 3-D. Theaters are currently booking the next Ice Age movie for digital 3-D theaters next year at the same time Transformers 2 is set to hit the big-screen.

Of course, when I heard this, my first thought is–why not combine the two films and have some incredible robot vs dinosaur battles in digital 3-D?!? This explains why I am not a Hollywood executive.

On a more serious note, Bay also confirmed that Australian actress Isabel Lucas has signed on for the upcoming sequel. Lucas will play the role of Alice in the potential blockbuster.

Filming on Transformers 2 is set to begin later this summer.

Here is the latest set report for the new Transformers 2 movie, with production details and new set photos:

From a source that wishes to remain un-identified comes the below pictures that show preparation to transform the site into part of a Chinese city. In addition to the pictures, the person provided some details about the shoot that will take place in the first week of June.

- The east side of the site is being re-developed so most of the shooting will take place on the west side.
- A new concept car (possible Transformer?) not used in the first movie will be used there
- Two Blackhawk helicopters will be used
- The area will be patrolled by the site security and Bethlehem City Police who will also and close streets for the shoot.

For the pictures, some just show what the site looks like from a street level and how it might be useful to appear as a city. You can also see that Chinese name has been added to the top of one building and painted on the street in another.
