The A-Team Script Read - CanMag

I used to love The A-Team. As a kid, I didn't realize just how lucky this bunch of characters were. Sure, they sustained injuries, but bullets seemed to miraculously swerve around them. Incredible!

I can't remember the last time I've seen an episode, but I think it would look a whole bunch more ridiculous now. Or would it?

The A-Team Script
Clint over at Moviehole has alerted us to his script review for The A-Team and, though it's trying, it still seems a little too A-Team for a film.

The story takes place in 2003, shortly before the United States' invasion of Baghdad - the classic "Shock and Awe" campaign we all remember. We meet Lieutenant Templeton "Face" Peck who is only described as a "damned good-looking man." He's at a base in the desert with a bunch of British soldiers, scamming them out of money with the help of American Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith - an older gentlemen who we learn has been divorced for six years.

They're called by General Henry Garner, a 64-year old with chopped gray hair and a golf tan. They meet their newest partner, Sgt. B.A. Baracas, who is a 22-year-old walking steel wall with two-percent body fat. Now, is it just me, or does this NOT sound like Mr. T? I mean - if we're going to replace Mr. T with someone like Tyrese then honestly, what's the point of having an "A-Team" movie?

The review goes on to point out just how involved with Iraq the A-Team becomes. Can't say I'm feeling it just yet, but maybe I should Tivo a few A-Team reruns to be sure.

Det verkar vara väldigt populärt med 80-tal remakes nu. Ska bli intressant att höra mer om detta, och vilka som ska spela rollerna. Har inte sett A-Team på väldigt länge så kan ju bli spännande att se hur en moderniserad version kan bli.

Jag har följt nyheterna ett tag och det känns lite intressant iaf. Mycket hänger på vika dom kan casta i rollerna då originalen fortfarande är färska i mitt minne och färgstarka karaktärer. Precis som med flera andra nyinspelningar så behöver jag nog ha ett väldigt öppet sinne för att kunna se filmen objektivt när den väl kommer.

Originalet är bäst. Om det ska vara modern version så gäller ju det att gänget är fiffiga

Moviehole.net - B.A in the Hood

Ice Cube has apparently been rumoured for a while now - haven't heard the rumours myself - to be the favourite to play B.A in the "A-Team" movie (which Adam Frazier says is going to bite - - - you could read the review, if only the studio didn't send him a cease-and-decist). What do you think? Is Cube circa 2008 the right man to step into Mr T's shoes? Wouldn't Cube circa 1992 been more appropriate?

Whatever the case, Cube tells Blackfilm.com that he's definitely interested in the gig.

''Hell yeah, especially with John Singleton directing!, the "Are We Done Yet?" star says. ''I wouldn't try to duplicate what Mr. T did, but I will have the same impact on you when you were little watching the TV show. I'm going to bring my own flavor to it and I am going to do the mohawk.''

Sounds like Cube has the role pretty much locked up?

''They want me to do it if all the business works out right. I was a fan as a kid and that would be, not a dream come true, but it's definitely a good thing to do and I would put it on my resume for sure.'' (as opposed to the last 5 films he's done which he hasn't put on his resume).

Ytterliggare en musiker som borde ägna sig åt just det och inte som skådespelare. Har iofs inte sett alltför många filmer med honom men det jag sett är jag inte speciellt förtjust i. Iofs har han en rätt "biffig" attityd som kanske skulle göra sig bra i en nytolkning av karaktären B.A

Collider talked to John Singleton, who is set to direct the big screen version of The A-Team. The highlights include that no one has been cast yet, he wants Woody Harrelson to play Murdock, the movie is not a farce like Starsky & Hutch (more serious but with humor) and everyone signing on will do so for multiple films.

Woody Harrelson var ju ett rätt bra val för "Howling Mad Murdock", fast kanske även han är lite för gammal nu..

Bra att dom inte tänker satsa på en fars, utan verkar gå på en känsla mer lik originalet.

Woody är en av mina favoritskådespelare och skulle faktiskt kunna tänka mig att se filmen om han var med i den. Jag gillade också serien när jag var barn,men rent allmänt låter det här rätt ointressant.

Jag såg just Ice Cube på Conan O´Brien. Tycker det verkar som en vettig roll åt honom. Ice Cube brukar vara bra när han får rätt roller. (Vilket tyvärr inte är speciellt ofta.)

Woody är jag däremot lite skeptisk till. Inte för att jag ogillar honom som skådis, jag har bara svårt att föreställa mig honom som Murdoch. Jim Carrey skulle antagligen passa väldigt bra.

Vem tror ni på som Face och Hannibal Smith då?

Jim Carrey som Murdoch tycker jag känns helt fel. Ice Cube som B.A. känns sådär, tycker inte att det låter bra men han har ju en attityd som kanske kan göra karaktären rättvisa. Har inga direkta förslag till Face och Hannibal. Ska fundera lite.

Fox doesn't have a cast yet for their upcoming adaptation of The A-Team, based on the cult classic 80's action series, but they have a release date in mind, reports Variety. The big screen treatment to be directed by John Singleton will hit theaters June 12, 2009. The new opening date has it going up against Eddie Murphy's next comedy Nowhereland. The screenplay was written by partners Michael Brandt and Derek Haas (3:10 to Yuma).

Well if he’s not playing the bling-infused B.A. Baracus in John Singleton’s upcoming big-screen remake of “The A-Team”, then someone lied to singer/model/actor Tyrese (pictured, below). Either that, or he knows self-promotion when he sees it, and since the guy carries around a, what’s that, 8 pack of abs?, I’d say he knows a thing or two about selling himself. In this case, it’s selling himself as the big screen incarnation of B.A. Baracus, the brotha with the bad attitude and fear of planes, originally played by Mr. T (pictured, left) in the ’80s TV show.

CHUD has the smackdown:

Tyrese is excited by the opportunity, even if it isn’t set in stone, since the script is still being worked on and him taking the role would depend on scheduling (Tyrese is a busy dude - look for more updates on Transformers 2 and Desert Eagle when I get back to LA).

He said that a mohawk is not out of the question, but otherwise he’s excited to bring BA into the 21st century, so don’t expect a ton of bling around his neck.

Hey, at least it’s not friggin’ Ice Cube. That’s something, I guess.

Men varför envisas dom med att koncentrera sig så mycket på artister när dom ska casta B.A (gäller även många andra filmroller också för den delen) finns det inga lämpliga skådespelare kvar i Hollywood längre?

Oerhört negativ trend måste jag säga då kanske 10% av alla artister är kompetenta skådespelare.

Tyrese vet jag inte riktigt. Jag kommer inte ihåg honom från varken 2 Fast 2 Furious eller Transformers vilket iofs inte säger så mycket. Dock anser jag att B.A. borde spelas av en skådis med mera "rugged look" och inte nån pretty boy model.

Jag har nog bara sett 5-6 filmer med Ice Cube och hittills har jag inte direkt gillat det han har gjort. Dock skulle nog han rent utseendemässigt passa bättre i rollen som B.A. än vad Tyrese skulle göra. Sedan vet vi ju att det inte bara räker med att se ut som en karaktär utan det ska till så mycket annat också som ska klaffa.

Det återstår att se vem som får respektive roll. Står det mellan dessa två herrar i slutänden så får vi väl hoppas på att det bli Ice Cube i så fall. Dock hoppas jag fortfarande på ett bättre alternativ.

Here is your exclusive first look at the A-Team Van rolling down the highway in Miami on the way for filming. John Singleton is remaking the 80's TV show hit into a movie and is scheduled to be released next summer June 12th, 2009.

I live in Miami, Fl and well today while I was driving I was cut off by a trailer...normally that would have pissed me off but what was on top of the trailer is what really caught my eye. it took me about a second to realize that i was staring at the A-team van (in which I proceed to yell out holy s***)...i know that van from anywhere cause I watched the show as a kid....so i'm guessing that they already starting production the movie, and some of it or all will be filmed in Miami.

Denna gång tycker jag att det rent utseendemässigt ser bättre ut än tidigare rykten. Dock är jag osäker på om han kan agera framför en kamera. Att fightas vet jag att han kan...

A well known UFC fighter named Quinton Rampage Jackson was on Kimmel last night where he mentioned that he was in the running to put on Mr. T's mohawk for John Singleton's A-TEAM movie. Being the completely sports-ignorant nerd I am, I had to look him up when we got word about his statement and sure enough, he looks the part (left):

Nu måste han kunna agera dock, och viktigast av allt... han måste vara beredd att fixa Mohawk.

Fast att agera som B.A. lär väl inte vara så svårt kan jag tänka mig. Ska man ha en väldigt lik tolkning kan man ju lika gärna köra med Mr. T på en gång (vad är det egentligen för fel som gör att man inte återanlitar honom och dom andra från serien som fortfarande är vid liv, så gammla är dom väl inte utan att dom skulle kunna göra rollerna bra igen?) Frisyren lär nog inte vara några problem att få till om han får rollen. Som fighter i UFC utsätter han sig för större faror än så...

Alvin sequel set for X-Mas, A-Team to 2010

Twentieth Century Fox's "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel" will nibble on the competish -- including Disney toon "The Princess and the Frog -- when opening in theaters on Christmas Day 2009.

The sequel's official name and release date were revealed Thursday as Fox announced a number of changes to its calendar, including pushing back "The A-Team," which doesn't have a cast or director, by a year, from June 12, 2009 to June 11, 2010.

John Singleton, who had been attached to direct "A-Team," has left the project after the studio said it wanted more time to develop the script, which has already gone through a number of rewrites.
